(VEN) - Vietnam and India hope to increase bilateral trade to US$15 billion by 2020, according to a joint statement issued by the two sides during President Tran Dai Quang’s visit to India from March 2-4. Major Vietnamese exports to India include mobile phones, computers, electronic products and components President Quang and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed on the need to adopt targeted measures to achieve US$15 billion in bilateral trade, focusing on diversifying export products, reducing trade barriers and enhancing air and maritime transport connectivity. The two sides also agreed to exchange development assistance packages in fields such as infrastructure, human resources, science and technology, research and development. Half of India's states and union territories have introduced a blanket ban on plastic bags, and yet many shoppers remain wedded to the flimsy carrier bags while plastic waste still litters the streets of the South Asian nation. In mid-January, Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir became the latest state to prohibit all polythene bags, in accordance with a ruling by its High Court. It joins 17 other states and territories governed by New Delhi that have imposed a complete ban on the sale and use of plastic bags, including Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. On 17/5, Hanoi leaders had a meeting with representatives from 18 U.S corporations to discuss on the same issue.
