Vietnam Value Forum 2021 officially kicked off

April 22, 2021 by www.vir.com.vn

vietnam value forum 2021 officially kicked off
Vietnam Value Forum 2021 was organised on April 19

Vietnam Value Forum 2021 focused on the diverse concerns of local businesses, especially on finding ways to take advantage of the programme and enhance the positions of Vietnamese companies in local and international markets.

The event also gathered numerous international economic experts, representatives of businesses, and representatives of local authorities, as well as local and overseas organisations.

The Vietnam Value Programme was approved by the prime minister in Decision No.253/2003/ND-CP dated November 25, 2003. The government assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to develop the programme, aiming to promote the nation’s image through high-quality “Made in Vietnam” goods.

“Over the recent years, the image of Vietnam Value has constantly improved in the global playground thanks to the government’s efforts in reforming the business climate and also extending bilateral and multilateral relations,” said Do Thang Hai, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. “These have contributed to boosting import-export activities, benefiting domestic brands.”

According to Brand Finance, in 2020 Vietnam was one of the countries recording significant growth in national value with a scale of $319 billion, up 29 per cent on-year. Thanks to that, Vietnam Value climbed 9 levels to be the 33rd most valuable national brand in the world.

Besides, the report said Vietnam was the only regional nation increasing the rank in the Global Soft Power Index 2020, from the position of 50th out of 60 to 47th out of 150 nations. Contributing to the achievement is the growth in ranking of the national value and positive results related to the economy.

Thanks to the programme, many local businesses have step-by-step built up and develop their brands. The number of businesses receiving the Vietnam Value Awards has kept increasing, from 30 in 2008 to 124 in 2020, with 283 items, with many products achieving regional and global recognition.

“The forum is organised in the context that a string of free trade agreements such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement have become valid to stimulate local economic integration,” said Hai. “I hope Vietnamese companies will actively grasp opportunities to be better involved in the global value chain, beefing up their brands and the nation’s image.”

Accompanying the programme, marketing specialists from MVV Group will support local businesses by providing skilled consultants to better take advantage of Vietnam Value in promoting their brands and products while also offering solutions to efficiently penetrate new markets.

Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue had a working session with the parliament’s Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs in Hanoi on April 22, highlighting the committee’s significant contributions to the success of the 14th NA.

The top legislator said that the committee has shown good performance in making and revising laws on financial and budgetary issues such as the law on public asset management, the law on public debt management, and the amended law on public investment.

It has also assisted the NA and the NA Standing Committee in exercising supervision in key areas like borrowed capital and financial funds.

Hue also noted the outstanding outcomes in the committee’s diplomatic activities such as the establishment of a cooperation mechanism with its counterpart committees of Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar, expressing his hope that this mechanism will be maintained and then expanded to the entire ASEAN.

He asked the Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs to build on its achievements to push ahead with reforming and improving its operational efficiency, build lawmaking programmes with a long-term vision as requested in the documents of the 13th National Party Congress, and promote relevant agencies’ accountability.

Regarding pressing issues, the NA Chairman demanded the committee focus on the medium-term public investment plan, the five-year financial plan, and the investment in national target programmes./.

Davipharm’s first High Potency Drugs Zone opens in Binh Duong

April 22, 2021 by ven.vn

In November 2017, Adamed Pharma, a Polish pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, acquired the controlling stake in Davipharm, one of the fastest-growing pharmaceutical companies in Vietnam. This is the largest-ever direct private Polish investment in Vietnam.

With over 10 million US dollars invested by Adamed by the end of 2020, Davipharm’s production plant in Binh Duong, Vietnam’s first HP Zone for the production of oncological drugs in solid forms, is an important milestone in terms of investing in high-quality. This will be followed by EU-GMP certification later this year as a continuation of the company strategy focused on raising standards of drug production.

Michal Wieczorek, CEO of Davipharm, said: “The HP Zone in Davipharm answers the needs of Vietnam’s Ministry of Health, providing high-quality oncological drugs to Vietnamese patients. It will also increase the role of domestic drug manufacturers in optimizing the state budget, improve patient safety, and provide medicines to treat some of the most common diseases in Vietnam.

“Currently, eight out of ten people in Vietnam die from non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cancers. This is also why Davipharm decided to be the first domestic drug manufacturer to become a partner of the Ministry of Health (MoH) in the prevention, early detection, and treatment of NCDs in Vietnam. We are proud to support MoH’s project ‘Vietnamese people giving priority to using Vietnamese drugs’”.

According to new regulations from Vietnam’s Ministry of Health, as well as guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO), European Medicines Agency (EMA) and Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S), the production of certain products containing hazardous substances must be run at separate premises meeting specific criteria.

Davipharm’s portfolio includes 28 high potency (HP) drugs, among them oncology drugs for treatment of breast cancer, leukemia, pancreas, colorectal, stomach, cervix, prostate and lung cancer and glioblastoma.

The company has the capacity to produce batches from 15kg to 100kg with an annual output of five hundred million units of HP drugs. The total capacity of the factory is 1,800 million units a year.

Vietnam’s first-ever ‘sleepless city’ officially opens on Phu Quoc Island

April 22, 2021 by tuoitrenews.vn

Vingroup’s Phu Quoc United Center – Southeast Asia’s leading entertainment complex – was officially launched on Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island on Wednesday evening and is expected to open up many opportunities for night-time economic development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Le Khac Hiep, vice-chairman of Vingroup, said the inauguration of Phu Quoc United Center will help the island grow rapidly and soon become an important economic center in southern Vietnam, as well as a paradise for tourism and luxury resorts not only in the country but also in the region.

It will lead to a new stage of development for businesses that have had a close and long-term relationship with Phu Quoc, including Vingroup.

“Since 2014, Vingroup has implemented ambitious projects with a long-term vision,” Hiep stated.

“Today, we officially put into operation Southeast Asia’s leading tourism-resort-entertainment complex.

“Phu Quoc United Center is a comprehensive ecosystem and a tourist destination that is able to meet all visitors’ needs.

“An inter-level school will also be established on the island in the coming time.”

Super entertainment complex

Phu Quoc – Vietnam’s first island city – is granted a lot of special mechanisms and policies to promote economic and tourism development, according to Huynh Quang Hung, chairman of the Phu Quoc People’s Committee.

A total of 328 projects worth up to US$16 billion have been established by major corporations on the island so far, Hung continued.

The number of visitors to Phu Quoc increases 25-30 percent every year, he said, adding that the island is expected to welcome three million visitors, who are mainly domestic tourists, in 2021.

“The brand new super entertainment complex plays a significant role in Phu Quoc’s tourism developmen,” Hung remarked.

Ry, a foreign visitor who has been in Vietnam for a year, said he was extremely excited at the opening of Phu Quoc United Center – an all-in-one resort complex.

Rod Beriver, a Canadian businessman, said he was surprised by the magnificence and cleanliness of the super tourism-resort-entertainment complex, especially the replica of Venice’s Grand Canal, which made him feel like he was in modern and glamorous Europe.

Beriver came to Vietnam about seven years ago and is running a business inside Phu Quoc United Center.

This ‘sleepless city’ can totally be compared with other leading destinations in Asia such as Japan and Hong Kong, the Canadian man added.

Vietnam’s first ‘sleepless city’

Vietnamese singer Dang Khoi arrived at Grand World, part of the Phu Quoc United Center, not only as an artist but also an investor since he owns a shophouse in the complex.

“I’ve been looking forward to the grand opening of the complex and hope it will become an attractive tourist destination in the future,” Khoi said.

“I believe this ‘sleepless city’ will spur Vietnam’s tourism in the coming time.”

Nguyen Duc Duy, a Ho Chi Minh City resident, said he landed in Phu Quoc on Wednesday morning on the occasion of the Hung Kings Festival.

Duy and his friends rented some bicycles to tour the Grand World and planned on partying all night long following the opening ceremony of Phu Quoc United Center.

“I cannot believe Vietnam has such a unique and spectacular entertainment compound,” the visitors exclaimed.

Pham Van Anh, who resides in Duong Dong Town, Phu Quoc City, said she is happy that her hometown has such a special entertainment complex.

“I hope that Phu Quoc will continue to develop so that more tourists will come to and fall in love with the island,” Anh remarked.

The woman added her family had spent VND150,000 (US$6.5) on an enjoyable boat ride along the Venice Grand Canal.

About 300 agricultural products and specialties of various localities were also presented to visitors in the ‘sleepless city.’

Bustling promenade, night market

Grand World currently has three main projects, namely the Grand World Phu Quoc Pedestrian Street – Night Market, NightZone 68, and Saigon Seafood Hub Market, according to Huynh Van Son, general director of Sea Star Saigon JSC.

Open from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am daily, NightZone 68 is the first model to be developed in the night economic complex, Son elaborated.

“The night economy here is an example of a ‘sleepless city,’ which is completely different from the night streets in other urban areas,” he elaborated.

The Pedestrian Street – Night Market has 134 stalls selling food, souvenirs, specialties, local products, travel necessities, and fashion items.

No matter how large or small a business or organization is, it is the potential victim of thousands of viruses and malware programs in the world. In 2020, there were nearly 1 million cyber attacks in Vietnam, focusing mostly on major IT systems.

Covid-19 pandemic has led to a more active use of the virtual space for working and daily operations, which means a higher potential of information leak and stealing due to an abnormal rise of cyber attacks via malware, especially Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) ones.

Head of the Authority of Information Security Nguyen Thanh Phuc stated that since digital transformation is a must of all private and state organizations, strict cyber security becomes a strong indispensable fortress to protect all achievements so far of the community, hence its critical role in any development strategy.

One of the most active agencies in the Vietnam Malware and Cyber-Attack Prevention Alliance is VNPT, which is often the leader in developing cyber security ecosystems for itself as well as other organizations nationwide.

Its Security Operation Center (SOC) specializes in dealing with cyber security problems 24/7. Using one platform for all aspects of cyber safety, the center can integrate various functions simultaneously to timely detect cyber attacks and stop them from spreading further, which effectively minimizing damages to IT systems and their owners. SOCs have saved millions of dollars from information safety activities for businesses as well as individuals.

At the moment, VNPT is cooperating with IBM to develop VNPT MSS (VNPT Managed Security Service) – a platform to monitor and manage the cyber security status of an organization, while providing necessary support to rescue IT systems from any attack,

The service is expected to become the immune system for Vietnam on its way to transform into a digital country with a strong and safe digital government.
