Da Nang (VNA) – The Quan The Am (the Goddess of Mercy) festival kicked off at Ngu Hanh Son (the Marble Mountain) in the central coastal city of Da Nang on April 2 (the 17th day of the second lunar month). Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Ngu Hanh Son district Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said this is an annual cultural, religious and spiritual festival held at Quan The Am pagoda. The event is meant to preserve and promote the ethnic culture and traditional values, she said, adding that it creates an opportunity for the tourism sector to attract more domestic and foreign tourists. A wide range of activities are held at the festival including a sutra reading ceremony, a photo exhibition on Indian Buddhism, a visit to the Buddhist cultural museum, an incense offering festival to commemorate Princess Huyen Tran, and a traditional boat racing festival. Da Nang, Japan’s Hokkaido to launch direct flight
Vietnam’s central Da Nang city and Japan’s Hokkaido prefecture plan to upgrade the current charter flight service to a regular air route between the two cities to boost their investment, tourism and trade, according to a Japanese official. An aircraft of Vietnam Airlines lands at Da Nang International Airport. Member of Hokkaido Prefectural council, Chiba Hidemori called for the direct flight in a recent meeting with Da Nang city’s leadership. Hidemori, chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association of Hokkaido, said cultural and trade exchanges and investment have been enhanced between the two sides since 2013, and the direct chartered flight resulted from positive co-operation between the two localities. Da Nang int’l fireworks festival prices announced
The festival organizer, Sun Group, said ticket prices for the opening and final night will be sold from VND 400,000 (USD 17.7) and VND 2 million (USD 88.5) each night. Tickets for children less than a meter tall will be fixed at VND 50,000 (USD 2.2) each night. The host Vietnam and Poland will perform in the curtain-raiser night on April 30. France and the U.S. will be the second performers on May 26. Defending champions Italy and Hong Kong (China) will perform on June 2, while Sweden and Portugal will light up the night of June 9. The two best teams will be selected for the final on June 30, where the winner of the festival will be chosen.
