Since 2010, Da Nang has identified information and communication technology as one of the three strategic breakthroughs in socio-economic development. The central city of Da Nang topped the Digital Transformation Index (DTI) rankings in 2020 for localities nationwide in all three key pillars of digital government, digital economy and digital society, according to the DTI 2020 Report released several days ago by the Ministry of Information and Communications. The Ministry of Health logged 14,314 more coronavirus infections throughout Vietnam on Sunday, together with 1,711 recoveries and 199 deaths. The latest cases, including two imported and 14,312 domestic transmissions, were reported in 61 provinces and cities, the ministry said, adding that 8,142 patients caught the virus in the community. The mountain orange has entered the harvest season in the central Vietnamese province of Quang Nam, bringing joy to local residents as the fruit can be sold at good prices. Growing at an altitude of 1,200 meters, mountain oranges are considered the specialty of the mountainous commune of Gary. The orange trees are mainly found in Ating, Arooi, and Glao Villages, which are located along the Vietnam-Laos border. Residents put mountain oranges into baskets before the fruits are transported to other localities in Vietnam for sale. Vietnamese famers have average income of 3.4 million VND/month The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that the average income for farmers in 2020 was 43 million VND/year, which is equivalent to under 3.4 million VND/month. In the Draft Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development for the 2021-2030 period (with a vision towards 2050), the Ministry set the goal of raising farmers’ average income and reducing poverty in a sustainable manner. By 2030, the rural population’s income would have to be 3 times higher than in 2020, and poverty rate would fall by 1-1.5 %. Da Nang calls for RoK’s investment in ICT A forum to promote investment in information and communications technology (ICT) in the central city of Da Nang from the Republic of Korea (RoK) was held virtually on November 30, bringing together representatives from over 200 enterprises and investors from the two countries.
