The closure of Parkson Cantavil would make it the fifth in the chain to shut down, Photo: Le Toan While the closing of Parkson Cantavil shopping centre in District 2 of Ho Chi Minh City has yet to be officially announced, Parkson Retail Asia (Parkson) has removed the sign board from the building frontage. Nguyen Manh Hung, owner of a fashion store in Cantavil mall where previously Parkson’s signboard was hung, said he was told Parkson had withdrawn from the mall in June. Currently, shops in the mall are dealing directly with customers instead of operating through Parkson’s system as before. Parkson’s counters were also moved out of the store. Parkson Cantavil opened in 2013 with the investment capital of $8 million at the project in the busy Thao Dien area of District 2. Singaporean enterprises seek opportunities in Vietnam A Singaporean mission of nearly 20 firms will visit Vietnam from October 15 to 19 to sound out cooperation prospects. The trip is jointly held by the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore, the Malaysia-Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Singapore Business Federation. According to the organizers, the Singaporean delegation includes representatives of large corporations, such as Sembcorp, which has developed seven Vietnam-Singapore industrial park projects in Vietnam, and NTUC, the retailer accounting for more than half of Singapore’s market share. Vietnam fisheries int’l exhibition opens in HCM City Visitors to the Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish) 2018 The Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish) 2018 kicked off at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City on August 22. The event attracts 233 exhibitors from 14 countries and territories, including 153 of Vietnam, showcasing aquatic products in 374 booths. The numbers of both exhibitors and booths increase by 6.8 percent and 3.6 percent, respectively, from last year. Vietfish 2018, lasting through August 24, also features many workshops discussing the market situation, production trends and other hot topics in the fisheries sector at present. Source http://soytecantho.vn The Department of Health in the Mekong Delta city of Cần Thơ this year plans to expand a model of family medical practice clinics to 27 more communes and wards. Family medical practice clinics aim to provide comprehensive and continuous health care services to each local individual and family in order to reduce overcrowding of patients at city or central-level hospitals. These clinics are located at health stations in communes and wards. Each commune or ward has one health station. Cần Thơ aims to equip more than 80 per cent of its 85 health stations with these clinics by 2020.
