The second National Paragliding Club Championships 2022 opens on Ly Son Island off the coast of Quang Ngai Province on May 21. The competition comprises individual man and individual women categories and team classification. Each team is made up of a maximum of seven pilots. Pilots will take off from a point on Thoi Loi Mountain and land on the 500-square-meter area. The competition will run from May 21 to 22. Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai Province Nguyen Tien Dung said that the event aims to enhance the strength training movement and contribute to the propaganda on national sovereignty over sea and islands among people as well as promote Ly Son’s tourism. The competition is also a skill assessment test for local paragliders in order to participate in international events, he added. Exhibition shows ethnic groups’ traditional handicraft
PANO - The Southern Women Museum is exhibiting 152 images and 84 objects highlighting weaving and dying methods and patterns of the traditional costumes of Cham, Khmer and other ethnic minority groups in the Truong Son-Central Highland region. The exhibition, opened on October 14th in Ho Chi Minh City, aims to honor women of those groups, who have been trying to preserve their traditional trade. It is also to introduce to visitors the groups’ cultures, and preservation of traditional trade, contributing to local socio-economic and tourism development. According to Nguyen Thi Tham, the museum’s manager, typical patterns on traditional costume of the ethnic minority groups feature the living environment, culture and rituals of each group. Viet Nam’s handicraft products win UNESCO prize
Three handicraft products made by Vietnamese artisans have won the "Seal of Excellence" 2006 prize of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). The prize winners, including two pottery vases produced by the Tran Minh Kinh and Chuc Hung pottery kilns and a lacquer bowl by the Kim Ma workshop, were selected from 13 entries submitted from Viet Nam . Chu Shiu-kee, Chief UNESCO Representative in Viet Nam , said the result proved that Vietnamese handicraft products have met with international standards and should gain more opportunities in the world market. Christopher Rungkat and Aldila Sutjiadi from Indonesia (Photo: VNA) Bac Ninh (VNA) - Philippine tennis players Ruben Gonzales and Treat Huey pocketed the men’s doubles gold after getting the best of fellow Philippines Jeson Patrombon and Francis Casey Alcantara on May 21 during the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31). The bronze in the event went to two pairs from Vietnam. In the women’s individual event, the final match was between Anchisa Chanta and Luksika Kumkhum, both from Thailand. Luksika Kumkhum beat Anchisa Chanta 2-1 to win gold. The bronze medal was shared by Vietnam’s Chanelle Van Nguyen and Alexander Eala from the Philippines. Earlier on May 20, in the mixed doubles event, the pair of Christopher Rungkat and Aldila Sutjiadi from Indonesia defeated Thai pair Pruchya Isarò and Patcharin Cheapchandej to win gold. Muhammad Osamanmusa opened the score for Thailand in the 2nd minute of the match. In the 10th minute of the match, Peerapat Kaewwilai broke Vietnam 's net again, bringing the 2nd goal for Thailand, setting a 2-0 score in the first half. In the second half, with the enthusiastic support of thousands of spectators, the Vietnamese futsal players intensified their attacks and created many scoring opportunities, but they all failed to get the ball into Thailand's net.
