Hanoi (VNA) – Apple is ramping up the production of iPhones, iPads, Macs and other products outside of China, in a sign that the tech giant is continuing to accelerate its production diversification, reported Nikkei Asia. It quoted its sources as saying that iPad production will begin in Vietnam as early as the middle of this year, marking the first time that the world's biggest tablet maker will build a significant number of the devices outside of China. The tech giant is also stepping up iPhone production in India, its second-largest production base for the iconic device, sources added, with plans to start producing the latest iPhone 12 series, the company's first 5G smartphones, in the South Asian nation in this quarter. Intel channels additional 475 million USD into Vietnam
HCM City (VNA) - Intel had poured an additional 475 million USD into Intel Products Vietnam (IPV), its single-largest assembly and test plant within the Intel Assembly and Test (ATM) network, IPV Chief Financial Officer Alan Danner said on January 27. He made the announcement during a meeting with businesses hosted by Saigon Hi-tech Park (SHTP) in Ho Chi Minh City. This is a new investment following a sum of 1.04 billion USD invested to build a chip assembly and test manufacturing facility at SHTP in 2006, bringing the semiconductor company’s investment in Vietnam to 1.5 billion USD in total. The additional capital was channelled into IPV between June 2019 and December 2020 to bolster the production of Intel’s 5G products, Intel Core processors with Intel Hybrid Technology, and the 10th Gen Intel Core. No new COVID-19 cases reported on January 27
Hanoi (VNA) – No new COVID-19 cases were reported in the past 24 hours to 6pm on January 27, keeping the total unchanged at 1,551, according to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control. The total number of recoveries now stands at 1,430, while the death toll remained at 35. Among patients undergoing treatment at medical establishments across the country, 14 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 10 others twice and 12 thrice. At present, 21,86 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine across the country.
