Vietnam reports additional 1,319 Covid-19 infections on Sunday

An additional 1,319 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed on Sunday, raising the national tally to over 10.70 million, according to the Ministry of Health. According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 33 out of 63 localities in the country with some localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (347), Bac Ninh (138), Vinh Phuc (90), Nghe An (82), and Yen Bai (61). As of Sunday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.70 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. On May 22, an additional 8,940 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.40 million. Vietnam cooperating with WHO to closely monitor monkeypox

WHO reported that until May 21 of this year, there have been 92 confirmed monkeypox patients and 28 suspected cases in 12 nations of England, Portugal, Sweden, Canada, Belgium, Germany, Australia, and the US, which are not the inherently endemic areas of the virus. WHO forecasts an increase in suspected monkeypox cases as it has expanded its monitoring scale. The virus of monkeypox has similar structure and features to that causing chickenpox, but the disease is rarely fatal. Some of the symptoms that distinguish common smallpox from monkeypox are high temperature and a nasty rash appearing on the face and gradually on other parts of the body 1-3 days after the fever. Vietnam’s new COVID-19 caseload stands at 1,319 on May 22

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - A total of 1,319 new COVID-19 cases, all community infections, were confirmed over the past 24 hours to 4pm May 22, according to the Ministry of Health. Hanoi remained the largest coronavirus hotspot with 347 cases, followed by Bac Ninh (138) and Vinh Phuc (90). The national tally now reached 10,708,887. Over 8,940 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on the day, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 9,402,046. A total of 211 patients are currently given breathing support. No deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours, keeping the fatalities at 43,075..
