V League schedule changed to accommodate World Cup qualifiers, AFC Cup matches
Match week 25, scheduled for October 6, has been moved to October 19 with match week 26 will be played on either October 22 or 23. This will enable many players to rest and train for events like the two legs of Hanoi FC’s AFC Cup inter-zonal final on September 25 and October 2 and the national team’s World Cup qualifiers while also ensuring the under-22 team have time to recover and prepare for the 2019 SEA Games at the end of November. Hanoi FC had sought a change in their V. League fixtures since the second leg of the AFC Cup final on October 2 will be played in North Korea. They estimate it will take three days to travel back to Vietnam afterward while their match against Quang Nam was scheduled for October 6. Hanoi are in the hunt for the V. League 1 title and the match could well determine their chances. The national team play Malaysia in Hanoi on October 10 and Indonesia away five days later in 2022 World Cup qualifiers. … [Read more...] about V League schedule changed to accommodate World Cup qualifiers, AFC Cup matches
Opponents’ coach praises Hanoi FC midfielder for outstanding performance
"Quang Hai scored two beautiful goals. He is a high-class player. I haven’t yet decided on tactics for the second leg but maybe we will pay much more attention to this player," Hojageldiyev said at a press conference after the game on Tuesday night. Hanoi FC head coach Chu Dinh Nghiem said he was not worried about Hai being marked by their opponents in the second leg. "It’s true that Quang Hai played very well in this game. But Hanoi FC is a team. If Altyn Asyr focus on Hai, we still have other players that can score, like Van Quyet and Pape Omar," Nghiem said. Hai was modest about the two stunning goals that he scored in the game played in Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi. "My two goals were okay. I have no secret, I just simply work hard when training and give my best for the team. Although I may have bad games sometimes, one thing for sure is that I always give it my all. After each game, I learn to improve myself and to play better." Nguyen Quang Hai (R) dribbles past … [Read more...] about Opponents’ coach praises Hanoi FC midfielder for outstanding performance
V. League schedule change to facilitate Vietnam’s World Cup campaign
The VFF discussed the issue last week with V. League 2019 organizers and decided to move round 23 games to September 15. The round was originally planned on August 30, 31 and September 1, leaving the players just three days to train and prepare for their first World Cup qualification game – an away match against Thailand. The national team will gather on August 26, one day after round 22 of V. League, and get 10 days to get ready for the Thailand clash. The location for the game is still unclear as the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok is under maintenance for the U23 Asian Cup that will take place in January 2020. In the second round of the World Cup 2022 Asian qualifiers, Vietnam are placed in group G with UAE, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Vietnam will play their first game away on September 5 against Thailand then clash with Malaysia at home on October 10. Five days later they will play in Indonesia. In November, Vietnam will play at home against the UAE and Thailand. … [Read more...] about V. League schedule change to facilitate Vietnam’s World Cup campaign
