PM stressed commitment to independent, integrated economy in Harvard speech

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính spoke at the Harvard Kennedy School in Boston, Massachussets on May 14. — VNA/VNS Photo Dương Giang WASHINGTON — Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has delivered a presentation on building an independent economy associated with extensive, effective, and substantial international integration in Việt Nam during his visit to the Harvard Kennedy School in in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on May 14 (US time) as part of his working trip to the US. PM Chính stressed the importance of independence laid out in the US’ Declaration of Independence “All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among them are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness,” and the spirit of which had been echoed in Việt Nam’s own Declaration of Independence penned by the late President Hồ Chí Minh. Bankable projects offer sustainable development for local people

Photo courtesy of Lục Đông company Công Thành Since starting a rattan and bamboo processing business in 2008, Trần Trung Hiếu has built a sustainable value chain for providing environment-friendly materials for crafts production by growing 152ha of rattan forest in the disadvantaged Nam Giang and Tây Giang districts in the central Quảng Nam Province in 2019-20. Hiếu, who is deputy director of Lục Đông company which specialises in processing rattan for furniture and crafts enterprises nationwide, said he had been cooperating with local ethnic groups in the two districts in building a sustainable chain of rattan that improved income for local people and protected biodiversity from exploitation. JICA supports Vietnam in realising net-zero emission commitment

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Science and Technology (JST), in cooperation with the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and the Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) of Japan, organised a signing ceremony of Record of Discussions for the “Project for Innovation of Science and Technology on Natural Rubber for Global Carbon Process” in Hanoi on May 19. At the event The project is funded with the official development assistance (ODA) of the Government of Japan through the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) Programme which is co-financed by JICA and the JST. It will be implemented by HUST and NUT for 5 years from 2022 to 2027, and considered as the development of the previous JICA-JST joint project for “Establishment of Carbon-Cycle-System with Natural Rubber”, which was completed in March 2016. Vietnam seeks opportunities for sustainable education partnerships

Education World Forum 2022 will make a valuable contribution to Vietnam's broader education partnerships and development as a leading economy of the future. Education World Forum 2022 (EWF) has supported Vietnam to find opportunities for sustainable education partnerships, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Hoang Long has said. While attending the four-day EWF 2022 in London from May 22-25, Long stressed that EWF is a great opportunity for Vietnam to learn about cooperation between the UK and other countries, not only in the field of education but also economy. “The Vietnamese Government regards high quality human resources education as one of the strategic breakthroughs for sustainable development of the country.
