On January 17, a local woman left Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi for Japan to work. When transiting in Singapore, she had to undergo a Covid-19 test which then showed that she was infected with the virus. According to Vu Duy Dang, chairman of Hung Dao Commune, local authorities identified 17 people who had come into close contact with the woman.
