PM issues plan on implementation of Law on Vietnam Coast Guard
Illustrative photo (Source: baochinhphu.vn) Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued a plan to implement the 2018 Law on Vietnam Coast Guard. The Law on Vietnam Coast Guard was adopted at the sixth session of the 14th National Assembly in November 2018. It will come into force from July 1 with eight chapters and 41 articles. Next month, ministries, sectors and authorities at the provincial level will begin the revision of legal documents on Vietnam’s coast guard and relevant documents, and then report to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) before submitting to the PM. They are also asked to propose ideas to amend, replace, repeal and issue new documents in accordance with the law. The MoD is set to work with competent agencies to devise legal documents on the implementation of the law, which will take effect simultaneously on July 1. Young Vietnamese and Chinese coast guard officers to build the waters of peace and stability

Vietnam Coast Guard ship makes first visit to India
The CBS 8001 reached the coast of Chennai City after traveling 3,575 nautical miles from Hanoi, the New Indian Express reported. Major-General Nguyen Van Son, Commandant of Vietnam Coast Guard, and Inspector-General Paramesh Sivamani, Commander of India’s Coast Guard Eastern Region, welcomed the ship and its crew. The four-day maiden visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, particularly in tackling maritime security threats, including human trafficking, piracy and drugs and firearms smuggling, the report said. The two countries’ Coast Guards will take part in a joint exercise off Chennai Thursday to promote inter-operability between the two forces.
