The meeting was held by the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and chaired by its Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, Head of the MND’s Steering Committee on Administrative Reform and E-Government. The partnership is under a cooperation agreement inked by the two sides in Hanoi on May 23, following the success of e-sports events at SEA Games 31 in Vietnam. Hanoi welcomed 700,000 domestic tourists and 31,448 foreigners who visited or participated in events of the recently concluded SEA Games 31, the municipal Department of Tourism announced on May 24. Vietnam ramps up surveillance amid monkeypox outbreak in 12 countries
A representative of the General Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health was quoted on the government news portal as saying monkeypox was usually zoonotic, but human-to-human transmission was possible through contact with wounds, bodily fluids and contaminated objects. To detect possible cases of monkeypox and promptly roll out response plans, the health ministry has asked local health departments to detect possible cases at the border, especially among those coming from countries where monkeypox is present: Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Nigeria, Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone and South Sudan. State Bank asks for extension to bad debt programme

The programme, since its implementation five years ago, has contributed to the restructuring of numerous financial institutions and the collection of bad debt during the 2016-20 period, according to Nguyen Thi Hong, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV). By the end of 2021, the programme had helped handle over VND380 trillion in bad debt, or 47.9 per cent of the country's entire bad debt since August 15, 2017. On average, some VND5.67 trillion in bad debt was processed each month during the period, significantly higher than the VND3.25 trillion per month prior to the implementation of the programme.
