Vietnam denies entry of nearly 300 passengers on concern over Covid-19
The denial is in line with regulations on prevention of Covid-19 which has caused 15 infections in the country. Vietnamese authorities have denied the entry of nearly 300 passengers whose time window between leaving China and entering Vietnam has been less than 14 days (the incubation period of the virus). Tan Son Nhat airport denied 286 passengers while Noi Bai refused three. Of the passengers, 218 came from Hong Kong on a flight by Cathay Pacific, the flag carrier of Hong Kong, 44 from Malaysia, 10 from Thailand, and four from Singapore. Japan’s biggest power generator acquires 35 per cent of TTC Group’s subsidiary
Jero supplies electricity, gas, and heat, as well as conducts the development, mining, processing, trading, and transportation of energy resources. Dang Van Thanh, chairman of TTC Group, has confirmed that Jera had bought a 35.09 per cent stake in Gia Lai Electricity JSC, a listed entity under TTC Group. Jera paid an unknown sum to International Finance Corporation (under the World Bank Group) and Armstrong Asset Management of Singapore for the majority ownership in Gia Lai Electricity, making it the biggest foreign shareholder in the firm, cited Bloomberg . Accordingly, TTC Group and its subsidiary Gia Lai Electricity plan to invest $1 billion to further boost its renewables capacity to more than 2,000 MWG. Meanwhile, Jera is expected to provide international expertise and technology to aid in this endeavour. Russian-Vietnamese goalkeeper returns to domestic league on three-year contract
Russian-born goalkeeper Dang Van Lam will compete for Topenland Binh Dinh FC in Vietnam’s top-tier V-League 1 following the two sides’ deal signing, the football club announced on Monday afternoon. The contract will last for three years. While Lam’s salary was kept undisclosed, sources told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the payment is not less than US$300,000 a year. Vietnam emerges as focus of Japan’s post-pandemic supply chain diversification
Japan will give post-COVID-19 support to over 100 overseas Japanese-invested projects, including more than 40 in Vietnam, but the Southeast Asian country needs to overcome certain challenges facing them, a Japanese trade official said. Nobuyuki Matsumoto, chief representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO)’s Ho Chi Minh City Office, released the information at a press briefing held recently at the twin launch of the upcoming METALEX Vietnam Exhibition and Supporting Industry Exhibition 2022 in October this year.
