With 7 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss, the Vietnamese chess player, (Elo rating 1196), earned 7.5 points and secured the silver medal. SEA Games 30: Events rescheduled due to Typhoon Kammuri
Satellite image of Typhoon Kammuri (Photo: NOAA) Hanoi (VNA) – Organisers of the ongoing 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 30) on December 2 announced the reschedule of some events expected to be held in the hosts Philippines’ Subic city over fear of Typhoon Kammuri. The super typhoon is projected to hit the Philippines on December 3, with accompanying wind’s velocity of up to 162 kph. The sports affected are beach volleyball, surfing, modern pentathlon, triathlon, duathlon, sailing, windsurfing, pencak silat, muay as well as canoe, kayak and traditional boat race. Events on December 3 have been cancelled and are expected to resume two days later. Meanwhile, the schedule of table tennis, chess, beach handball, swimming and sepak takraw remains unchanged. Swimmer secures first gold for Vietnam at Asian Para Games 2018
Swimmer Nguyen Thanh Trung secures the first gold medal for Vietnam at the 3rd Asian Para Games in Indonesia after taking lead at the men’s 100m breaststroke event for SB4 category. “Coming to Indonesia for this tournament, I didn’t think of winning a gold medal but only how to make my best efforts,” said Trung. “I am very happy to win the first gold medal for the Vietnamese team and hopefully this will motivate the entire team to earn more medals in the following days,” he added.
