(Photo:sggp.org.vn) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese Grandmaster Le Quang Liem has been back on the International Chess Federation (FIDE) standard chess ranking after two-year absence as he had not competed in this category internationally since 2020. Liem ranked 23rd with an Elo rating of 2,722, according the latest FIDE ranking released last week. The ranking was topped by Norwegian Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen with 2,864. Two other Vietnamese grandmasters Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and his spouse Pham Le Thao Nguyen were also named in the ranking. Son, a standard chess champion at SEA Games 31, was placed 111th with Elo of 2,645 while Nguyen was in the 2,583th position with 2,369. Last month, Liem claimed the second place at the standard chess category of an international chess tournament in Czech Republic’s Prague. After nine games, Minh, with an Elo rating of 2,527, earned seven points and went unbeaten. His efficiency in this tournament is equivalent to an Elo of 2,683. He also played four grandmasters and opponents from more than three chess federations. These conditions were enough for Minh to get the title of grandmaster. Minh is the 13th chess grandmaster in Vietnam. The previous 12 are Dao Thien Hai, Tu Hoang Thong, Nguyen Anh Dung, Cao Sang, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, Le Quang Liem, Bui Vinh, Nguyen Huynh Minh Huy, Nguyen Duc Hoa, Tran Tuan Minh, Nguyen Anh Khoi and Nguyen Van Huy. The 2022 World Open brought together 225 players to play nine rounds from June 30 to July 4 in Philadelphia, the U.S. Minh concluded the tournament peaking first along with a few other strong players. Master plan targets long-term prosperity for Mekong Delta
According to Carolyn Turk, Country Director for the World Bank in Vietnam, the master plan demonstrated the whole-of-government approach and a strong commitment to promoting sustainable development and enhancing the climate resilience of the Mekong Delta. Vietnamese e-commerce enabler OnPoint has closed US$50 million in series B funding from SeaTown Private Capital Master Fund. — VNS Photo OnPoint, an e-commerce enabler in Viet Nam, has successfully raised US$50 million in a series B fund-raising round from SeaTown Private Capital Master Fund managed by SeaTown Holdings International, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore’s Temasek Holdings.
