At the event, Dr. Khamla Keoounkham, vice director of the academy, said that the teaching and studying of the works has a practical meaning, creating favourable conditions for researchers, scholars and teachers as well as other people interested in President Ho Chi Minh's ideology to access the late Vietnamese leader’s works. In mid-June, Van Anh and her family of four took a summer holiday in Da Nang, famous as the country’s most livable city, but they felt that the trip was made boring because they had nothing to do in the evening. "Besides swimming, eating out and visiting Ba Na Hills, I realized that Da Nang has very few services for tourists, especially in the evening. After eating, we come back to the hotel and there are no more night-time activities," she said. Thu Huong, another tourist from Hanoi, also spent a night in Da Nang last month and watched a fire breathing act on the iconic Dragon Bridge at night. She said she didn’t know what else she could do. "From 9:30 p.m. streets in Da Nang started emptying and looking deserted. There were a few night markets and backpacker streets with poor services," Huong recalled. Samsung Engineering acquires stake in water treatment company
The ceremony to sign the deal was held at the Intercontinental Landmark Hotel in Hanoi, and attended by executives from both companies, including Samsung Engineering Executive vice president GyuYeon Kang and DNP Water chairman Ngo Duc Vu. With this acquisition, Samsung Engineering holds a 24 percent stake in DNP Water, DNP Holding owns 53 percent and other stakeholders have 23 percent. DNP Water is a private enterprise that focuses on water supply business in Vietnam and is the largest private water treatment company in terms of capacity. It was spun off from the DNP Group, a manufacturer of plastic pipes, in 2017. Since then it has been growing in the water treatment business by buying private water supply assets and developing new businesses. Literary works for children honored with awards
The awards ceremony was held to celebrate the International Children's Day (June 1) in Hanoi. The winning works are: Co Ban La Co Ban (Basic is Basic), Biet Doi Tham Tu (Detective Team), Emma Tham Hoa (Disaster Emma), Du Dua Tren Ngon Cay Bang (Swing on Indian Almond's Branch), and a short story collection and picture book Chiec Dep That Lac (The Lost Sandal). The annual non-profit awards were launched in 2020 to honor the best works by and for children. The award title is taken from the main character in De Men Phieu Luu Ky (Diary of a Cricket) by To Hoai, one of the most well-known Vietnamese children’s books. The awards include one grand prize called Hiep Si De Men (Cricket Knight) and five others called Khat Vong De Men (Cricket Desire). The Hiep Si De Men award was not given out this year as no entry met the criteria. The 90 entries included poetry, animation films, novels and short and long stories. Vietnam boxing champ to defend IBF Asia belt against Filipino opponent
The IBF Asia lightweight champion will fight Jules Victoriano on July 30. The match will take place at The Grand Ho Tram Strip Resort in the southern beach town Vung Tau. In April, at the IBF-WBO 4 Titles Match event, also hosted at The Grand Ho Tram, Quan defeated Delmar Pellio of the Philippines in the title match after 10 rounds. The victory helped Quan bring Vietnam the first title of the International Boxing Federation or IBF, one of the big four boxing federations in the world. Quan’s next opponent, Victoriano, is another talented Filipino boxer with 15 professional fights (11 wins, four losses and eight knockouts). Victoriano is 325th on the world ranking of lightweight boxers, while Quan is 228th. So far, Quan has fought 10 professional matches in his career, with eight wins, one draw and one loss.
