Not ‘business as usual’ for G20 foreign ministers meeting in Bali
The Group of 20 includes Western countries that have accused Moscow of war crimes in Ukraine and rolled out sanctions, but also countries like China, Indonesia, India and South Africa that have not followed suit. The gathering will be the first time that foreign ministers from some of the world's top economies meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov since Russia attacked Ukraine in February. Vietnam PM receives Russian foreign minister
Receiving the Russian minister at the government's office on Wednesday, Chinh said he wished to make the bilateral cooperation "deeper and more effective" in all fields. Vietnam’s biggest exam kicks off
The two-day exam begins with Literature, with a two-hour test starting 7:35 a.m. In Hanoi, around 98,000 students woke up from 4-5 a.m. to have breakfast and prepare for the day ahead. Students need to be present at exam ground from 6:45 a.m., but many decided to go early anyway to be able to respond to any mishap on the road. At the Yen Hoa Middle School in Cau Giay District, no student showed up late. Thanks to spacious sidewalks and police personnel directing the flow of traffic, there was no congestion at the school gates. Students' family members were directed to the Yen Hoa Primary School and the Cau Giay District Cultural House to wait. Singapore confirms first local case of monkeypox infection
The patient is a 45-year-old male Malaysian national who resides in Singapore. He tested positive on Wednesday. Three close contacts of the man were identified as of Wednesday, and all will be placed under quarantine for 21 days since their last contact with him, the statement added. He had symptoms such as lower abdomen skin lesions, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, fever and a sore throat. His condition is stable and he is currently in a ward at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) in Singapore, the ministry said, adding that the transmission risk to the general public remains low. The patient is not linked to the imported case announced last month.
