Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and participants (Source: VNA) Da Nang (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on January 28 made a Tet visit to current and retired high-ranking officials of Party committees in the central region on the thresholds of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival 2019. He also met with officers of the Military Zone 5 High Command, retired senior officials of Da Nang city, and representatives of authorities of localities from Thua Thien - Hue to Quang Ngai. During the meeting, representatives from the Party committees in the central region reported to the Government leader the implementation of assigned duties in 2018, as well as tasks in 2019. However, floods last year still attacked Da Nang City, Quang Nam and other central provinces in the 11th month and caused severe damage. Seminar calls for OV investment in north central region
At the event (Source: VNA) Nghe An (VNA) – A seminar calling for overseas Vietnamese investment in the north central region took place in Vinh city, the central province of Nghe An on December 29. The event attracted representatives from the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the central provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, scientists, intellectuals and businesspeople from countries worldwide. They discussed transportation infrastructure, seaports, customs, logistics and business opportunities along the east-west corridor or the strategic economic service corridor. Viet Nam News CENTRAL REGION — This time last year, many parts of the central region were submerged under floodwater, but this year’s unusual aridity in the middle of the rainy season offers little solace. Hydropower reservoirs stationed upstream of the network of rivers crisscrossing the region are barely scraping by as water levels drop to near the operational minimum, while in downstream areas, locals are struggling to stave off aggressive salt intrusion. “For the past three months, there has not been one noteworthy spell of rain,” said Bríu Liếc, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tây Giang, a mountainous district in the south-central province of Quảng Nam near the country’s border with Laos.
