Phu Quoc, WWF-Vietnam launch plastic waste reduction model at tourist destinations

The model is expected to be gradually replicated in other entertainment venues in the city after its initial success. The Phu Quoc District People’s Committee and WWF-Vietnam launched a model project of reducing plastic waste at tourist destinations, as part of the drive to become a plastic-free island. The launch of tourist trash cans is expected to encourage the habit of sorting and disposing of garbage on-site. Photo: VOV Under the project, there are 12 sets of tourist trash cans and two public drinking water fountains have been made available in some venues on the island, of which four trash cans were installed in Dinh Cau Temple and Bach Dang Park, and another eight were placed in Tran Hung Dao Street, Duong Dong Ward, with a total cost of nearly VND800 million (US$34,296) sponsored by WWF-Vietnam. Struggling mother seeks help for disabled son

A woman in the northern province of Bac Giang is calling for support as she is facing cirrhosis, while her son has congenital dumbness and blindness. Vy Thi Sinh, 60, and her son are living in a shabby house with nothing valuable in Son Dong District’s Dai Son Commune. Sinh’s husband was affected by Agent Orange when he was a soldier. He died due last year to lung, liver and heart problems. In the last days before his death, he had to use a lot of pain relievers. Sinh and her son During more than ten years of struggling with serious diseases, Sinh had to sell all the family’s valuables to cover her husband's treatment. In April 2020, while working on the field, she suddenly fainted and was taken to hospital. She was then diagnosed with pneural effusion and cirrhosis. Vietnamese cultural village to be built in RoK

Briefing on a plan for the construction of the village, Park asked the Embassy of Vietnam in the RoK for support to the project which aims to mark the 30th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties (December 22, 1992 – 2022), to expand people-to-people exchange, and to promote Vietnam’s cultural experience in the RoK. According to Park, the village will be developed on a ground of 38,350 sq.m. It is expected to attract around 100,000 visitors and generate some 3.7 billion won (2.8 million USD) in revenue annually. Local authorities also hope that project will create jobs for nearly half a million of local residents. The Vietnamese village in Bonghwa forms part of a project planned to step up cultural exchange and accelerate cooperation between Bonghwa and Vietnam in tourism, culture and education. Exporters struggle with raw materials shortages

But while many enterprises have orders until the end of the year, they cannot speed up production due to raw material shortages. Director of Datalogic Vietnam Limited Liability Company, Dang Van Chung said the market demand is large, but businesses cannot accept new orders due to lack of electronic components.
