Police warn about Cambodian human trafficking scams
Authorities in some central and central highlands provinces are investigating human trafficking scams to Cambodia targeting local young people. A police officer meets with the parents of a teenager in Quang Ngai Province who is cheated and brought to Cambodia Police in Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces have recently received reports of local teenagers cheated by human trafficking rings and brought to Cambodia to work through social media scams. According to the Quang Ngai Provincial Police Department, they have received letters calling for help from eight local families whose children were cheated and brought to Cambodia. Police in Gia Lai Province also said that they had been informed of many young people being cheated by human trafficking rings in Cambodia since early June with two of them having been rescued and brought home. Red Dao people preserving beauty of traditional outfits
In her free time, Trieu Thi Sinh, an elderly woman in Giap Cang village, Khai Trung commune, in Luc Yen district, teaches the younger women how to make clothing. She not only shows them how to use a needle and thread but also explains the meaning of each design and pattern. Her work contributes greatly to efforts to preserve the culture of her ethnic minority group . The Red Dao are a subgroup of the Dao people, renowned for their colourful traditional costumes. On a background of black clothing, the Red Dao people use four main colours - red, yellow, blue and white - to decorate their outfits. Materials include brocade and satin, with motifs close to nature. On shirts is a row of rectangular silver buttons, and engraved on the buttons is the sign of Heaven. In the Dao people’s beliefs, once they wear a traditional outfit they are always protected and blessed by God and the ancestors. Royal Cambodian Navy’s mission visits Vietnam’s Naval Academy
At the working session, Rear Admiral Nguyen Van Lam, President of the Naval Academy, briefed the Cambodian guests on the history, tradition, missions, achievements and orientation for the development of the academy. He also updated the visiting mission on the academy’s outcomes in training Cambodian naval cadets and officers. Over the past years, the Naval Academy has trained thousands of Cambodian naval officers. In recent years, despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the academy has still continued its training programs for Cambodian cadets as planned. All of the Cambodian trainees have completed training courses, meeting all set training requirements. Vietnamese martyr honoured by Cambodian people
Nguyễn Thành Luân, nephew of martyr Nguyễn Văn Ngộ, now take care of Ngộ's altar in his hometown of Hamlet 4, Mỹ Phú Commune. — VNA/VNS Photo Đức Hạnh LONG AN — A statue of Vietnamese martyr Nguyễn Văn Ngộ was built in 2017 in Cambodia's Svay Rieng province to commemorate the hero who lost his life for the Cambodian people in the war against the Pol Pot genocide. Ngộ was born in 1959 in Mỹ Phú Commune, Thủ Thừa District, in the southern province of Long An. He died when he was just 20 years old in Cambodia. More than 40 years have passed and people in Việt Nam and Cambodia remember him as a hero of the two countries. Ngộ was an infantry soldier in Vice Platoon of 2nd Infantry Company under 502nd Battalion, 779th Command, Military Region 7. He participated in 13 battles in Cambodia. He commanded a squad with 33 kills and collected 30 guns of all kinds, actively contributing with his company to maintaining order and security in the areas that he was responsible for.
