Sydney (VNA) – Lord Mayor of Australia’s Sydney Clover Moore launched the city’s biggest ever celebrations on January 29 to mark the Lunar New Year with a line-up of exciting events for all. The Sydney Lunar Festival will take place from February 1-10 at famous landmarks like the Opera House, Circular Quay, Pitt Street, China Garden, and Chinatown. It is expected to attract upwards of 1.3 million international visitors. The festival will include the popular Lunar Lanterns exhibition, performances by a cross-section of Sydney’s Asian communities, Chinatown celebrations, dragon boat races, food offerings, lion dancing, and even an attempt at recording a new Guinness World Record. Viet Nam posts positive year in 2018
The Vietnamese manufacturing sector continued to record solid growth in December, helping the country show the strongest upturn in ASEAN during the last month of 2018. According to the latest survey from Nikkei’s IHS Markit, released on Wednesday, Vietnam Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) – a composite single-figure indicator of manufacturing performance – was 53.8 in December, signalling solid improvement in the health of the manufacturing sector. Although down from November’s near-record reading of 56.5, the latest figure was in line with the average for 2018 as a whole. The calendar is the brainchild of Hồ Chí Minh City’s General Publishers and Xuân Phương Nam Calendar Company, aiming to highlight the landscapes and people of Việt Nam’s islands and sea. The calendar contains 53 pages decorated with images of islands, the life of soldiers and residents in Trường Sa (Paracel Archipelago).
