In a joint statement sent to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh Saturday, eight business associations in Vietnam said the guidance does not take into account variations in the pandemic situation among different regions in the country and shows a lack of flexibility. The eight signatories to the statement were: the Food Transparency Association; Food and Foodstuff Association of Ho Chi Minh City; Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Products; Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association; Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of HCMC; Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers; Vietnam Plastics Association; and the Japan Business Association in Vietnam. The Health Ministry document says rules will be based on three main indicators of Covid-19 safety adaptation assessment and four levels of pandemic risk and corresponding response measures, including: low risk – new normal, medium risk, high risk and very high risk. According to BaoViet Securities Company (BVSC), corporate bonds worth a total of VND190.66 trillion ($8.3 billion) were issued in the first half of this year, up 6.18 per cent year-on-year. — Photo tapchinganhang Data recently released by the State Bank of Viet Nam shows that deposits by corporate customers at banks have been increasing since the beginning of this year. By May enterprises had deposits of VND5,036,953 billion, or 3.26 per cent higher than at the beginning of the year. Individual customers had deposits of nearly VND5,275,730 billion. Corporates thus accounted for 49 per cent of total deposits, up from the average 40 per cent in past years. The figure has surprised market analysts. The COVID-19 pandemic is considered to be one of the key reasons for the surge in deposits by companies. Biendong POC, a subsidiary of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group ( PetroVietnam ), has also produced more than 24 million barrels of condensate over the last eight years. It demonstrates the company’s effort to safely run the fields, apply advanced technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in operation and surmount difficulties caused by the COVID-19.
