After considering several solutions to expand its headquarters, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has decided to take up a proposal by U.S. architecture firm Gensler, which will not demolish a 130-year-building in downtown Saigon, but build on it. The city's Department of Planning and Architecture will work with the American firm to come up with the most feasible plan, the administration recently announced. First Chiang Mai-Da Nang flight brings 180 tourists to central region
AirAsia brings the first 180 tourists to Da Nang city from Thailand's Chiang Mai province on April 12. (Photo: AirAsia) Da Nang (VNA) – Budget carrier AirAsia’s first flight connecting Thailand’s Chiang Mai province and Vietnam’s central coastal city of Da Nang landed at Da Nang International Airport on April 12, with 180 passengers on board. The daily flight takes a total of one hour and 45 minutes, departing at 8 am from Chiang Mai and 10:15 am from Da Nang city. AirAsia already has a Bangkok-Da Nang route with three flights per week, and a Da Nang-Kuala Lumpur route with two flights per week. According to Vice Director of the Da Nang Centre for Tourism Promotion Huynh Thi Huong Lan, Thailand has become one of the city’s biggest sources of tourists in recent years. Ngoc Linh Ginseng Museum opens in HCM City
The newly opened Ngoc Linh Ginseng Museum in HCM City boasts over 400 varieties of the healing plant called a national treasure. Nguyen Tan Viet, museum director, said that Ngoc Linh ginseng, which has medicinal properties, reflects the history and culture of Vietnam. "Having researched for years, I had a strong desire to build a museum so that others could appreciate and learn more about this precious ginseng species," Viet said. At the working session (Source: VNA) An Giang (VNA) – Chairman of the An Giang province People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh has called for more support from the World Bank (WB) for the locality to implement climate change adaptation and sustainable development projects. During a working session on December 12 with a delegation led by Regional Director for East Asia and Pacific at the WB Benoit Bosquet, Binh said that the six projects of the locality will concentrate on sustainable livelihood for local residents, safe agriculture development, water supply and waste water treatment, and dealing with landslides along coasts and river banks. The projects will be implemented with a total investment of around 172.63 million USD, and priority will be given to the building of a waste water collection and treatment system in Tan Chau town.
