Bringing Polish language back to Vietnam school – inevitable move

November 7, 2019 by hanoitimes.vn

Reintroducing the Polish language is necessary in the course of tightened bilateral ties and stronger partnership between Hanoi University and its partners.

Reintroducing the Polish language, which was taught in Vietnam in the 1980s, into university curriculum is necessary in the course of tightened bilateral relations between Vietnam and Poland, according to a Vietnamese rector.

The availability of Polish language in Hanoi University (HANU)’s educational program, in addition, shows the strong cooperation between the university and its partners, Hanoi University’s Rector Nguyen Van Trao said at a meeting with Polish Ambassador to Vietnam Wojciech Gerwel last weekend.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Wojciech Gerwel said bringing back Polish language after decades indicates the enhanced the Vietnam – Poland relationship which has lasted for 70 years.

He believed learning the Polish language will enable learners to grasp more working opportunities in the context that more and more Polish companies are investing in Vietnam thanks to the broader bilateral ties.

Making Polish available in HANU has required efforts from both countries, typically the Polish Embassy in Hanoi and Hanoi University.

The journey began two years ago when HANU and Poland’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education signed a memorandum of intent in attendance of the late Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang and Polish President Andrzej S. Duda.

In October 2018, HANU and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) signed an agreement in which the agency would send native teachers to help the university build teaching programs covering elementary (A1, A2) and basic levels (B1).

In April 2019, HANU launched the first Polish course and Polish was officially introduced as the second language to its students since September.

In November, HANU plans to open another Polish course to make this language available to learners in Hanoi. The move aims to create opportunities to study and work in Poland for Vietnamese nationals.

Why Polish?

There’s a generation of Vietnamese people who learnt Polish in the 1980s for studies in Poland under the support of the Polish government.

According to Ho Chi Hung, deputy head of the Vietnam-Poland Friendship Association, there were roughly 10,000 Vietnamese people trained in Poland and those of his generation (their 60s, 70s) spent years in the country which they consider the second homeland.

Dr. Hoang Thu Oanh, former lecturer in the Polish language and Polish literature at HANU, said Polish is not easy but learners would no longer find it difficult one they learn it. She insisted that the learners would love this language when they achieve proficiency.

The former lecturer said she and her friends were lucky to know about such a beautiful language as they were able to study and do research in Polish. Her love for Polish remains unchanged from the first days she was taught thanks to the support by the government of Poland. She was touched that they had experienced great moments during her course in Poland.

PhD. Luong Minh Chinh, lecturer at Thuyloi University, who obtained doctorate degree at Warsaw University of Technology (Politechnika Warszawska), said that Polish has opened up a briliant career for him as he can learn everything including his major in Polish. So far, he keeps learning, reading and doing research in this language together with the mother tongue. He inspired students with sharing about the Polish language and people as well as great experiences during his study in the Central European country. “Anytime coming back is like coming home,” he recalled.

Polish

Polish is a Slavic language which emerged in the 10th century when the Polish state developed itself. Previously a spoken language only, Polish became a written language with the adoption of the Latin alphabet, brought by Christianity.

The number of Polish speakers hits roughly 55 million around the world. Polish is an official language in Poland. In the UK, Polish has become the third most spoken language after English and Welsh. Polish is also the second most spoken Slavic language after Russian.

There are strong Polish-speaking communities in Belarus, Lithuania, Ukraine together with those in Canada, the US, Israel, Argentina, Brazil, Belarus and don’t be surprised if you meet Polish speakers in Denmark, Estonia, Serbia or New Zealand.

Polish contains a great number of words borrowed from Latin, Czech, German, Belarusian, and Ukrainian and also some words from Italian, French, and English. Along with the other West Slavic languages, it has a fixed stress accent.

It’s an interesting fact that five Nobel Prizes in Literature have been awarded to Polish writers. It shows part of activities to honor this language, according to Dr. Oanh.

Branded residences elevate land potential in Vietnam’s metropolises

April 12, 2021 by www.vir.com.vn

branded residences elevate land potential in vietnams metropolises
The Ritz-Carlton development covers 8,500sq.m next to Ben Thanh Market

One highlight of these land plots is their attachment to globally acclaimed brands such as Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, and Marriott – and are all developed by Masterise Homes, a member of Masterise Group, which pioneers in bringing world-class excellence to the development, operation, and management of real estate products and services in the Vietnamese market and beyond.

Spacious plot at Saigon River becomes Grand Marina

The first to date is the central land plot along the Saigon River in Ba Son area which stretches from Ton Duc Thang to Nguyen Huu Canh streets in the heart of District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The land space, formerly belonging to The Centennial Saigon luxury condominium project, has changed its name to the Grand Marina Saigon, with Masterise Homes acting as the developer of the maiden project.

As projected, the 10-hectare land space not only features branded apartments under two leading brands, JW Marriott and Marriott, the land space’s new owner also wants to provide a public park, waterfront boardwalk, and world-class marina integrated with the Ba Son metro station. This branded residence and hotel development will also feature eight waterfront towers.

One Central Saigon located opposite Ben Thanh Market

Sitting on Ben Thanh’s four-cornered land area with its four sides being major roads, and with the vibrant Ben Thanh Market opposite, the vast 8,500-square metre land space formerly under the Spirit of Saigon realty project has changed its name to One Central Saigon. The project developer is Masterise Homes, which is in full throttle for completion of the One Central Saigon premium development.

One Central Saigon will feature sublime condominiums under the Ritz-Carlton brand, which for the first time makes its name into Vietnam’s real estate market and is also the most upscale hotel brand from Marriott International.

The US brand operates more than 108 upscale hotel and resort venues across 30 countries and territories worldwide.

Ritz-Carlton’s well-established branded residences have made forays around the globe, visible in the North American and Middle Eastern markets, particularly in Dubai.

Land space in central Hanoi belongs to Masterise Homes

In Hanoi, the 4,000sq.m land plot on Hang Bai street, just 100m from Hoan Kiem Lake in the heart of Hanoi, now has a new owner – Masterise Homes – after years of sitting idle.

Before transfer, the land plot was under the ownership of privately-held Tan Hoang Minh Group and the compensation cost once hit $43,500 per sq.m. The project, named D’ San Raffles, sits next to Trang Tien Plaza; its other side is Hai Ba Trung, another central Hanoian street.

Global real estate brands like Marriott and Ritz-Carlton continually marking their presence in central business districts of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi attests to the high sentiments domestic and global investors have for Vietnam’s growth potential to branded residences.

This is grounded in the fact that leading British real estate consultancy Knight Frank states that the number of ultra-rich people in Vietnam, each with asset value surpassing $30 million, has been on a steady rise.

Accordingly, the country ranks third worldwide in ultra-rich people’s growth pace as by the end of 2019 Vietnam was home to 458 utra-rich people, up 7 per cent on-year, as noted in Knight Frank’s Wealth Report 2021.

Together with globally-acclaimed brands such as Marriott and Ritz-Carlton, these land plots also brighten the name of Masterise Homes. Through constantly bringing such brands to golden land areas in Vietnam’s key metropolises, Masterise Homes has affirmed its pioneering role in crafting the portfolio of urban branded residences in Vietnam.

Masterise Homes has put its name in the spotlight in recent years through acquiring many land plots in central strategic positions with full legal status.

The group has been pursuing a well-conceived strategy of fully realising its legal obligations to the customers, for instance, offering ownership certificates early to customers.

In fact, Masterise Homes is one of the earliest developers striving to give these pink books to customers.

Passengers landed in the home country on Thursday afternoon from two flights operated by Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier.

The returnees, who are those working and living in many parts of Myanmar, arrived in Danang for quarantine.

Vietnam Airlines said it took days to make the flights possible with the focus on safety measures against the pandemic.

All crew members and passengers equipped with personal protection equipment.

All crew members and passengers were required to wear personal protection equipment (PPE) during the flight and to undertake compulsory quarantine upon arrival.

Vietnam suspended international flights since March 2020 but it has maintained repatriation flights and Vietnam Airlines is responsible for almost all flights.

In 2020, Vietnam Airlines operated more than 180 flights bringing home more than 52,500 Vietnamese nationals who were stranded in more than 30 countries and territories.

The repatriation of Vietnamese nationals gives priority to children under 18, the elderly, the sick, students having no dormitories, those facing hardships, and special cases.

Vietnamese singer Ha Anh Tuan backs world-renowned lifestyle brands

April 12, 2021 by tuoitrenews.vn

With expectations for the best, lifestyle and design play essential roles in young Vietnamese buyers’ decision-making when choosing a new home.

The value of individuality

Famous for delivering awe-inspiring music, young Vietnamese singer Ha Anh Tuan brings years of international living and travel back to his home country.

“I love to travel and believe each new experience gives us priceless life lessons,” he says.

While inspired by architecture, art, and music from around the world, young Vietnamese still take immense pride in their own arts and culture with a view to maintaining them.

Having traveled far and wide, gaining experience and education, this next generation of buyers expect to see what they have experienced similarly reflected in the quality and luxury of their self-imposed lifestyles.

Foreigners in Vietnam have noted this preference and can relate to it.

With more than 20 years of experience working on such acclaimed and large-scale projects as Trump, Paramount, and Versace, Youssef Akila, head of design at Masterise Homes, says, “It is clear that young Vietnamese are curious about the wider world and in search of knowledge and connection.

“Rather than copying what other countries have done, they’re keen to introduce a fresh perspective to every aspect of their lives.

“To match these expectations, we invested highly in the interior design and meticulously considered even the smallest details for Masteri Centre Point.

“Creativity and balance have gone into the choosing of colors, materials, and general design.”

The design found at Masteri Centre Point is fresh and unique; it sets the standard of luxury for interested buyers in Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City.

“Each morning, I ask myself what I can do to stay motivated and have a great day,” Ha Anh Tuan says in a discussion about the new standard of luxury living.

“I often think about the phrase ‘be inspired,’ which speaks to the innovation and passion needed in all facets of life.

“That said, I love the clear inspiration Masterise Homes, as a developer, and their international team of designers have put forth toward meeting my generation’s shift in expectations.

“They have delivered on the lifestyle young Vietnamese like myself have come to expect for ourselves.

“As citizens of the world, we have seen, grown, and experienced so much, and there is no reason we cannot apply those same world-class living standards here in our own country.

“We work hard – we’ve earned a happy, comfortable life.”

“Prestige and reputation can only be built with experience and expertise.”

In cooperation with international partners, Masterise Homes is proud to deliver Masteri Centre Point as a trusted and preferred residence among the country’s young elite.

VN-Index hits new peak as trading value surges

April 12, 2021 by e.vnexpress.net

The index stayed in the green throughout the day and closed with a near 21-point gain, the biggest increase in the last seven sessions. VN-Index has several times hit new peaks this year after beating the 2018 level earlier this month.

Trading value on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) rose 18 percent to VND21.5 trillion ($934 million), a new record this year, compared to the average VND15.5 trillion in the first quarter.

The increasing amount of cash poured into the stock market coincides with the rise in new investor numbers. A total 113,875 new trading accounts opened in March, the highest monthly figure ever, bring the total number to 3.02 million, equivalent to 2.8 percent of Vietnam’s population.

The VN30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 20 tickers in the green Monday, led by NVL of Novaland Group, up 5.9 percent to a new all-time peak.

This is its eighth gaining session in a row, having climbed over 18 percent since April 2.

VIC of Vietnam’s biggest private conglomerate Vingroup followed with a 5.7 percent increase, also to a new peak. The ticker has gained nearly 12 percent this month.

VPB of private lender VPBank rose 3.8 percent to a new peak, its eighth session in the green. The ticker has gone up 51 percent this year.

Foreign investors, after recording this year’s highest net buying value last session, turned net sellers to the tune of VND212 billion, with strongest pressure on VPB, VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank and GAS of state-owned Petrovietnam Gas.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, gained 0.59 percent, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market rose 1.31 percent.
