Additional 2,814 new Covid-19 cases confirmed on Wednesday, three deaths

An additional 2,814 more Covid-19 infections were confirmed in Vietnam on Tuesday while the country reported three deaths relating to the disease, according to the Ministry of Health. On August 17, an additional 5,298 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 10.04 million. On Wednesday evening, three deaths from Covid-19 were recorded, raising the country's total fatalities to 43,103, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections. By August 17, the country had injected more than 252 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. Vietnam has not yet drafted plans to give Covid-19 vaccines to children under five years old. Health Ministry orders strengthening reporting of new COVID-19 cases

The move came after a series of fast-spreading sub-variants of Omicron (BA.4, BA.5, BA.2.75 and BA.2.12.1) were reported in the country. According to the ministry’s General Department of Preventive Medicine, the number of COVID-19 cases has been on the rise in both Vietnam and around the world. The country is currently recording an average of about 2,000 new cases each day. The number of new cases is believed to be on the rise again. Therefore, in order to actively prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic, the department told leaders of health departments nationwide to regularly and promptly review and report new cases of COVID-19. The localities must comply with regulations on reporting new cases and fully declare new cases of COVID-19 within 24 hours as prescribed by the ministry so that the figures can be sent to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control and the Prime Minister. On April 6, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) released the Asian Development Outlook Report (ADO 2022), which stated that the Vietnamese economy is ready for a strong recovery in the context of global economy instability. Danang team raises funds for dog and cat rescue

A group of young people in the central city of Danang have held a music show to raise funds to support the rescue of dogs and cats. Team 16 with more than 10 members was set up in October last year.
