Taiwanese firm builds low-cost preschool for workers’ children in southern Vietnam
A low-cost preschool in the southern province of Dong Nai has become a trusted place for factory workers to send their children since the 2013-2014 academic year for its environmentally-friendly design and high-quality education. Last December, Nhung Bong Hoa Nho (Little Flowers) Kindergarten, established in the provincial capital of Bien Hoa by Taiwanese-invested Pouchen Vietnam Company, received a green building certificate from the Vietnam Green Building Council. The council, which is a program begun by California-based non-profit Green Cities Fund, Inc., aims to raise awareness and build capacity for the development of green buildings in Vietnam. Nhung Bong Hoa Nho applies green solutions like recycling material and water and using solar-electric systems to heat water in order to help the school save energy, as well as to educate kids on energy saving from an early age. Oanh didn't realise she had just become Việt Nam's top track-and-field athlete at the 30th Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines. 68 percent of kids experience violence from relatives: Survey

(Photo courtesy of the MSD) Hanoi (VNA) - A recent survey has found that 68 percent of children between the ages of one and 14 had been on the receiving end of violence at the hands of their parents and relatives. The results were released at a dialogue organised by the Management and Sustainable Development Institute (MSD) on December 13 in Hanoi, with more than 150 participants. The event called for co-operation among organisations to eliminate physical and psychological abuse against children. The national children protection hotline 111 has received three million calls for help in the past 14 years. Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan sent flowers to congratulate the congress. Vu Trong Kim was re-elected as Chairman of the association for the 2019-2024 tenure. He said more than 554,200 former youth volunteers are living across localities.
