Binh Duong firms face recruitment difficulties

February 25, 2021 by dtinews.vn

Many firms in Binh Duong Province are facing difficulties in finding workers after the Tet Holiday.

It’s estimated that 611 firms in Binh Duong need nearly 71,300 employees, 20,000 more than last year. Over 85% of the firms with trade unions have resumed work and 716,000 out of 774,000 employees have returned to work.

Firms at VSIP Industrial Park want to recruit 20,000 new employees and firms at Ben Cat Industrial Park are in need of 10,000 employees. Dozens of firms have contacted the Labour Confederation of Binh Duong and communal authorities to ask for help.

Firms in major cities like Di An, Thuan An and Thu Dau Mot cities can find new employees more easily while it’s a struggle for firms in remote areas like Bac Tan Uyen or Bau Bang districts. Firms in Binh Duong also face tough competition with firms in nearby cities and provinces. The average wages and bonuses in Binh Duong are considered lower than in HCM City and Dong Nai Province. Moreover, many people still don’t want to go to work yet due to the ongoing outbreak.

Nguyen Hai Dinh from Son La Province said, “I have done some research and realised that the minimum wages are basically the same in all companies so the question is which one has better treatment and bonuses. This is the first time I go to Binh Duong to work so I’m in the dark.”

Binh Duong Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has asked the Employment Service Centre to provide more information both offline and online, contact provinces with a labour source and consult firms about better wages and bonuses to attract employees.

Vocational schools, colleges and universities were asked to help with job introduction. Meanwhile, firms were asked to send HR employees to go find new employees in other regions with the trade unions or ask their own employees to introduce new people.

Hai Duong (VNA) – Thirteen patients in a COVID-19 treatment hospital in Hai Duong province, the country’s current largest coronavirus hotspot, were given the all-clear on February 24.

The patients, who were treated at the COVID-19 hospital set up within the campus of the Hai Duong Medical Technical University in Hai Duong city, will undergo 14-day home quarantine under the supervision of local authorities and test for the coronavirus before the end of the quarantine.

The total number of recovered patients in the province now reaches 225.

According to the provincial Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, over the past 24 hours to 16:00 on February 24, Hai Duong had reported 11 cases, raising its count to 636.

The province has collected nearly 300,000 samples for COVID-19 testing so far. It plans to conduct large-scale testing for the novel coronavirus, using Realtime-PCR technology, from February 24.

The move aims to measure the spread of COVID-19 in the province to help it respond better to the disease while identifying safe areas to boost economic recovery.

People targeted by the testing are divided into three groups: the high-risk group who are people from Chi Linh and Hai Duong cities, and Kim Thanh and Cam Giang districts; the medium-risk including people from the districts of Kinh Mon, Nam Sach and Binh Giang; and the low-risk comprising those from Ninh Giang, Thanh Ha, Tu Ky, Gia Loc and Thanh Mien.

Hai Duong now has six labs for COVID-19 testing using Realtime-PCR, located in the provincial Centre for Disease Control, General Hospital, Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Children’s Hospital, Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital, and the Hospital of Hai Duong Medical Technical University.

The province is now capable of collecting 50,000 to 60,000 samples and processing as much as 8,500 individual test samples on a daily basis. The results normally come out after 24 hours./.

Saigonese help consume unsold vegetables from Vietnam’s virus-hit province

February 25, 2021 by tuoitrenews.vn

A group of young people from Ho Chi Minh City had transported agricultural products from the northern province of Hai Duong to the southern metropolis before selling them at zero dong on Tuesday in the hope of easing the burden on farmers in the virus-hit locality.

The group, in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union members, transported a total of more than ten metric tons of cabbages, with a budget of over VND40 million (US$1,700).

Part of the amount came from donors in response to the call on Facebook for a ‘rescue’ of vegetables that could not find buyers in Hai Duong due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak and related travel restrictions.

The majority of vegetables grown in Hai Duong have been left unsold as authorities in Hai Phong City, a big veggie consumer of Hai Duong, have been restricting goods transport activities for COVID-19 prevention and control.

With the good intention of the Ho Chi Minh City group, the Hai Duong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development quickly approved their proposal to ship locally-grown vegetables to the southern metropolis, according to Nguyen Tan Phi, a grassroots-level Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union official.

The vehicles transporting the veggies were disinfected before reaching Ho Chi Minh City, Phi added.

After their arrival in the city, the ‘rescued’ cabbages were put up for sale at zero dong at a makeshift stall in front of Phat Buu Pagoda in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.

On Tuesday afternoon, the stall attracted hundreds of people, who happily took away the free cabbages and made small donations in return to support farmers in Hai Duong.

“I support such small-but-meaningful activities initiated by the young people, especially during the pandemic hardship,” said Thanh Thuy, a resident in District 3.

According to the group’s plan, they will transport carrot and kohlrabi from Hai Duong to Ho Chi Minh City in the next two days to help farmers reduce their stockpiles.

Thanks to a nationwide response, more than half of the unsold vegetables in Hai Duong had been snapped up as of 5:00 pm on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Vietnam confirms 11 local coronavirus cases, 73 recoveries

February 24, 2021 by tuoitrenews.vn

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health reported 11 domestically-transmitted COVID-19 infections along with 73 recoveries on Wednesday, with Hai Duong Province continuing to be the country’s largest cluster.

All the new cases were documented in Hai Duong, located in northern Vietnam, the health ministry said.

The ministry announced 43 recoveries in an update at 6:00 am on Wednesday and 30 others at 6:00 pm the same day.

Vietnam had gone nearly two months logging zero domestic cases before it detected the first one on January 27 and confirmed it one day later, according to the health ministry’s data.

A total of 820 community-based cases have been confirmed in 13 provinces and cities since then, making it the most serious wave to have struck Vietnam after the first-ever COVID-19 patient was announced in the country on January 23, 2020.

Over 80 percent of these patients are symptomless while almost 15 percent exhibit mild symptoms, according to the health ministry’s analysis.

In this latest wave, 636 cases were recorded in Hai Duong, 61 in Quang Ninh Province, 27 in Gia Lai Province, 35 in Hanoi, five in Bac Ninh Province, two in Bac Giang Province, 36 in Ho Chi Minh City, two in Hoa Binh Province, one in Ha Giang Province, three in Dien Bien Province, six in Binh Duong Province, four in Hai Phong, and two in Hung Yen Province.

Daily new infections have been in decline in recent days thanks to social distancing, contact tracing, and targeted testing and lockdowns, the health ministry said, adding that community contagion in the epicenter of Hai Duong has also decelerated.

Vietnam has recorded 2,412 coronavirus cases, including 1,513 local infections, as of Wednesday night, with 1,790 recoveries and 35 virus-related fatalities, according to the Ministry of Health’s data.

The dead had suffered from comorbid medical problems, including 31 in Da Nang, three in Quang Nam Province, and one in Quang Tri Province.

The government is quarantining over 88,500 people who had contact with infected patients or made an entry from virus-plagued places.
