(CPV)- Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a plan mobilizing USD 14.849 billion in capital for urban light rail projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from now to 2020. Of this figure, capital for Hanoi urban railway projects, including overpasses light rail, subways, and connections to the national railway, is USD 7.345 billion. This capital is comprised of USD 5.542 billion worth of foreign capital (committed capital and necessarily mobilized capital) and USD 1.803 billion of domestic capital. The Ho Chi Minh City urban railway will be invested with USD 7.504 billion worth of capital, including USD 6.3 billion of foreign capital and USD 1.204 billion of domestic capital. The Hanoi Times - The Viet Hung Urban Development and Investment Joint Stock Company (Vihajico) said it will begin construction of an 8.2 billion USD ecological urban centre in Hung Yen province in July. Vihajico General Director, Dao Ngoc Thanh, said the real estate market is forecast to warm up at ecological urban centres in the years to come and that is the reason why his company poured huge investment to early catch this trend. Covering 500 ha in Van Giang district, the Eco Park is expected to become the first ecological city in Vietnam , with almost 22 percent of its area zoned off for tree planting and lakes - the highest rate in the country's new urban centres. The Eco Park will feature a commercial area, an old quarter, a residential area, a golf course, lakeside villas and other areas. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved a US$14.8 billion plan to build commuter railway networks inside traffic-choked Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City over the next 12 years. Hanoi will receive $7.3 billion to build seven railway lines, including sky trains and subways, according to a statement released on the government's website on Sunday. Of the total cost, $5.5 billion will come from foreign investment. Ho Chi Minh City will receive $7.5 billion, of which $6.3 billion will be foreign invested, to build six urban railways and metro lines. Prime Minister Dung has asked officials to speed up preparations for the elevated and underground railway systems and focus on attracting overseas aid and loans for the projects, according to the statement.
