There are some private equity funds like Mekong Capital that have funds dedicated to Vietnam and some regional / global private equity funds like TPG who are making private equity investments here too. It has been this way for more than ten years. I haven’t noticed any significant changes in the last ten years. Private equity funds invest in most countries around the world. The amount of private equity investment isn’t particularly sensitive to macroeconomic trends. The baby and mom retail segment may see heated competition Mothercare enters Vietnam this month On April 21, Mothercare will launch its first baby and mom retail store in Ho Chi Minh City’s Crescent Mall, which is one of the first shopping centres in Vietnam meeting international standards. The store volume is expected to increase to three within the year. Mothercare will join Vietnam via franchising partner Au Chau Fashion and Cosmetics Co., Ltd. Companies in Vietnam have experienced fierce competition over the last few years, both qualitative and quantitative. Many have been forced to close down while others are still in business but struggling to move forward. The question is how to make a brand not only sustainable but also grow in value in the context of fierce global competition and rapid digitalization.
