Under the theme “Books for every family, bringing books to far away regions,” the festival drew the participation of over 70 publishing houses and book publishers nationwide. They brought to the event tens of thousands of printed books and e-books with subsidies up to 70% and completely free ships for the first 30,000 bills.
Book lovers will have a chance to get an insight into digital transformation in the publishing industry, as well as how to access books in the context of the fourth industrial revolution. In addition, numerous activities such as workshops and contests will be held on the sidelines of the festival.
The event will last until May 15.

Opening the ceremony, delegates offered incense, beat the drum, recalled the resounding victories, and enjoyed an art programme re-enacting the heroic atmosphere of the battles in the past.
It was followed by a procession which carried the statue of Tran Hung Dao, a celebrated Tran Dynasty general, from his temple through major streets in Quang Yen Town to the Yen Giang communal temple.

In 981, Le Hoan won against the Song army to firmly safeguard Vietnam’s sovereignty and in 1288 Tran Hung Dao beat the powerful Mongols to protect Vietnam from the Mongol conquest.
Bach Dang Festival is held annually to pay tribute to the contributions of the forefathers and affirm the significance of the victories on Bach Dang River.
In addition to the main ritual, the festival also features a wide range of other activities such as a photo exhibition of national treasures, a calligraphy exhibition, folk games and art programmes.
The festival will last until April 20.
The event is a highlight of the 2021 Hanoi Tourism and Culinary Culture Festival themed “Hanoians travel Hanoi”.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh hailed the achievements that the Party committee, authorities and people of Ba Vi District as well as the joint efforts by travel agencies in the localities over the past years.
He also noted that despite many difficulties on infrastructure and the heavy impact of COVID-19 pandemic, Ba Vi District has made many measures to maintain tourism activities and implement the “dual goal” of preventing and controlling the epidemic while boosting socio-economic development.
The local authorities and agencies have boldly developed and organised new tourism products as well as exploited the potential of nature and cultural identities to create specific products, bringing many new and interesting experiences tovisitors.
Taking place until August, visitors to the festival will have the chance to join various activities such as visiting Coc Hamlet in Minh Quang Commune with Muong – Dao Market, an introduction to the traditional cuisines of ethnic minority people, gong performances, Ba Vi Orchids Festival, the promotion of tourism products at the Ao Vua and Khoang Xanh tourist sites and Tan Da Resort.

The event witnessed the participation of Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Phan Van Giang, Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien, and senior leaders of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Addressing the ceremony, MR 2’s Commander Maj. Gen. Pham Hong Chuong held that the military region’s affiliated units have built concrete plans for the tree-planting campaign and collaborated with local authorities in caring for and protecting forests and improving the ecological environment.
In response to the campaign, the Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels have enhanced information dissemination to raise troops’ awareness of the great benefits and values of tree-planting while closely collaborating with local authorities and people to implement various measures to take care of green trees, prevent forest fires and fight deforestation.
After the launching ceremony, General Giang and delegates planted trees at MR 2’s headquarters. On this occasion, the defense minister also offered incense at the Hung Kings Temple Historical Relic Site and paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at a memorial area inside the headquarters while visiting several MR 2’s projects under construction.
