Volunteers collect waste and polystyrenes on an island in Ha Long Bay (Photo: VNA) Quang Ninh (VNA) – An artwork creation campaign on plastic waste and polystyrenes is taking place in Minh Chau commune of Van Don district, northeastern Quang Ninh province, with a view to helping raise public awareness of marine pollution. Themed “I love the ocean/Born to be wild”, the campaign is organised by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Bai Tu Long National Park, and the Centre for Supporting Green Development (GreenHub) from May 29 to June 9. Completed artworks will be displayed on local beaches or the community centre of Bai Tu Long National Park. VN commits to fighting illegal wildlife trade
Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam is one of the many countries in the world committed to fighting illegal wildlife trade, a meeting in Hà Nội was told on May 31. Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the British Embassy, it was held to announce a one year update into plans to tackle the outlawed animal trade. Two years ago, Việt Nam pledged its support at the Hà Nội International Conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT). The report was compiled by relevant ministries and agencies from 25 countries and international organisations, highlighting progress of the Hà Nội Statement actions that were pledged to eradicate the market for illegal wildlife products. Hanoi statement to fight illegal wildlife trade under review
At the bilateral meeting (Source: http://www.qdnd.vn) Hanoi (VNA) - The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the UK Embassy in Vietnam held a bilateral meeting and announced the one-year review of implementing the Hanoi Statement on Illegal Wildlife Trade in Hanoi on May 31. The report was built by the ministry based on the commitments of 25 countries and international organisations at the Hanoi Conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade in 2016. The UK will host an international conference about illegal wildlife this October. According to the report, the governments of countries have strengthened bilateral and multilateral cooperation as well as coordinated with international and non-governmental organisations to carry out a number of activities to reduce the demand for wildlife products and eliminate illegal wildlife markets. Students and lecturers unite against illegal wildlife medicine
On May 25, students, lecturers, and faculty staff from five of Vietnam’s traditional medicine (TM) universities developed communications strategies to combat the use of illegal wildlife products in traditional medicinal treatments as part of a two-day workshop that was concluded today in Cuc Phuong National Park. USAID project helps Vietnam’s wildlife protection
