Three non-governmental organisations in Vietnam have teamed up to launch the “You are not alone” campaign to support children orphaned by COVID-19, the hidden victims of the pandemic. A representative from the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Committee visits and presents gifts to children orphaned by COVID-19 in the city. The NGOs taking part are the Management and Sustainable Development Institute (MSD), Saigon Children’s Charity (saigonchildren) and Capacity Building and Support Center for Women and Children (CSWC). The “You are not alone” campaign aims to support disadvantaged children orphaned, as well as extending support towards the wider community through an open application system where any orphaned child outside their existing networks can seek help. According to Phuong, about 2,000 shipper s have not been vaccinated, and the authorities of districts are working hard to accelerate vaccinations campaigns in their locality. HCM City to receive 56,555 tonnes of rice from national reserve The General Department of State Reserves under the Ministry of Finance has issued a document on the provision of over 56,555 tonnes of rice from national reserve to Ho Chi Minh City to support pandemic-hit residents. The department has signed contracts with the Phat Tai Company Limited in Dong Thap province, Thuan Minh Import-Export JSC in HCM City and Trung An High-Tech Agriculture JSC in Can Tho city to buy enough rice to supply to HCM City. The HCM City State Reserve Department is tasked to work with local authorities to distribute fee rice to people in need. Earlier, the General Department has given 14,500 tonnes of rice to the city. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has launched a program “Internet connection and computers for children” in response to a project initiated by the Government, which would benefit over 1.5 million needy students nationwide. Free computers for thousands of needy students in Hanoi Addressing the pressing need of underprivileged students who lack the necessary tools to assist them in distance learning amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the project aims to provide equal opportunity for students to access education.
