CAAV Deputy Director Vo Huy Cuong announced the agency had received an application to invest in the project from IPP Air Cargo Joint Stock Company. Cuong added the MoT’s policy has clarified that establishing a new airline would be considered after the aviation market recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic's impacts, expected to be next year. To have a basis for answering IPP Air Cargo, which hopes to get approval in the third quarter of 2021 and operate commercial flights in the second quarter of 2022, Cuong said: “The CAAV would consult with the MoT for more guidance on building and appraising the application for an air transport business license for IPP Air Cargo." Experts have said that the tourism industry needs to work with localities and relevant agencies to develop a plan on piloting the welcoming of foreign tourists. Airlines get stuck in adversity In the latest draft Vietnamese business report for 2020 and 2021’s first five months released on June 17, the MPI proposed the State Bank of Vietnam to submit the government plans for a 4 per cent supporting interest rate on bank loans taken up by airlines between 2021 and 2023. In addition, the ministry also recommended the Ministry of Transport (MoT) to revise Circular No.19/2020/TT-BGTVT to extend the 50 per cent discount on taking off and landing service fees and also applying the VND0 minimum price for national airline services at the end of 2021. The MoT was also recommended to submit a proposal to the government to amend Resolution No.1148/2020 to reduce the environmental tax to VND1,000 (4.35 US cents) from VND2,100 (9.13 US cents) per litre of kerosene. Edge computing is an important key to enterprises’ IT infrastructure strategies and the digital economy. A recent survey by TRA found that 51 percent of IT experts in Asia Pacific have begun applying hybrid IT solutions, combining edge computing, public cloud computing and on-premises infrastructure. Edge computing was chosen by more than 1,100 CTOs as the priority task for the next 12 months. The deployment of edge computing has been going strongly in neighboring markets, according to the report. 79 percent of surveyed institutions in Indonesia have applied edge computing, or have understanding about edge computing. Many of them have been applying edge solutions for advanced projects as well. Meanwhile, Thai businesses plan to step up the use of edge computing in the next 24 months for customers’ experience-oriented projects.
