Berlin (VNA) – The Berlin ASEAN Committee held the ASEAN Day in the German capital city on October 25, aiming to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between ASEAN countries and Germany. The annual event saw the presence of Director General for Asia and the Pacific at the German Federal Foreign Office Ina Lepel, member of the German federal parliament and head of the Germany-ASEAN Parliamentary Friendship Group Renate Kuenast, and diplomats from ASEAN countries. Hanoi (VNA) - Announcing the outcomes of the 41st General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA 41) held from September 8 to 10 via teleconference, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attributed the successful organisation of the event to efforts and determination of the Vietnamese National Assembly and AIPA member parliaments. At a press conference in Hanoi on September 10 following the closing ceremony of AIPA 41, National Assembly Chairwoman Ngan said the successful General Assembly consolidated reputation of Vietnam in general and its National Assembly in particular in the world arena. The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) is a regional parliamentary organisation. It was originally formed on September 2, 1977 as the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Organisation (AIPO) by the leaders of the parliamentary delegations of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand attending the Third ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Conference in Manila, the Philippines. In 1995, Vietnam became a member, followed by Laos in 1997, Cambodia in 1999, and Brunei in 2009.
