In a press release following a recent consultation with Vietnam, the IMF Executive Board said a recovery is underway and high frequency indicators point to stronger momentum going into 2022, with rising retail sales, industrial production, and firm entry. Growth is expected to reach 6% in 2022 as activity normalisation continues and the programme for recovery and development is implemented. (Photo: SGGP) There were around 410,300 people aged 15 – 24 without a job during the period, accounting for 36.8 percent of the total figure, Pham Hoai Nam, Director of the GSO’s Department of Population and Labor, told the press conference held to announce the Q2 and H1 labor market updates. The unemployment rate among persons of this age group living in urban areas was 9.21 percent, a year-on-year drop of 0.76 percentage point, he added. Both unemployment and underemployment rates declined in Q2 compared to the previous quarter and the same period last year, GSO Deputy General Director Nguyen Trung Tien said. The Q2 employment went up quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year, with a considerable rise reported in the service sector, Tien noted, adding that monthly average wage per person also increased. N.A. Standing Committee agrees to reduce environmental protection tax for fuel
Accordingly, the N.A. Standing Committee adjusted the environmental protection tax rate from 2,000 VND (0.086 USD) to 1,000 VND per liter for petrol (except ethanol), from 1,000 VND to 500 VND per liter for diesel, from 1,000 VND to 300 VND per liter for mazut and lubricant and 300 VND per kg for grease. That for kerosene remains unchanged at 300 VND per liter. The reduction will be applied from July 11 until the end of this year. Speaking at the Standing Committee’s session, N.A. Additional 913 new Covid-19 infections reported on Wednesday
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported an additional 913 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to over 10.75 million. As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.75 million. On July 6, an additional 7,626 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.73 million. On Wednesday evening, no deaths related to Covid-19 were recorded, the country's total fatalities stay at 43,089, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections.
