More golds for Vietnamese sports delegation at SEA Games 31

In the final of men’s 5,000m, military athlete Nguyen Van Lai finished first in 16 minutes, 34 seconds and 12, securing a gold medal. Other gold medalists of Vietnam’s track and field team were Pham Thi Diem (women’s high jump with an achievement of 1.78m), Nguyen Tien Trong (men’slong jump – 7.80m), Nguyen Thi Huyen (women’s 400m – 52 seconds and 83). In jujitsu event, Phung Thi Hue pocketed a gold medal after defeating her Philippines rival in women’s 45kg category. Vietnam to play Malaysia in SEA Games football semifinal

Vietnam currently tops SEA Games 31 medal tally

Vietnam bagged a total of 29 gold medals on the third day (May 15) since the region’s biggest sports event officially started. The Wushu team impressed spectators the most, claiming seven gold medals, including six in the Sanda events. The gold medalists include Hoang Thi Phuong Giang in Changquan, and Ngo Thi Phuong Nga, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, Nguyen Thi Trang, Bui Truong Giang, Truong Van Chuong, and Nguyen Van Tai in Sanda.
