The event took place within a meeting of wives of officials and female staff of the Malaysia n Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ASEAN Ladies Circle (ALC) in the country, aiming to contributing to enhancing the friendship and solidarity within the bloc. Khuat Thi Hong Hanh, spouse of Vietnam ese Ambassador Tran Viet Thai and head of the ALC Vietnam, spoke highly of solidarity and mutual support of the ALC amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Viettel has two more exclusively-protected patents in the U.S.
The two inventions included "Spherical mirror optics for medium-wave thermal imaging equipment" invented in 2017 and "Method for making high-temperature synthetic materials." The former helps self-research, design and manufacture camera-core and minimize the dependence on imports from abroad. Meanwhile, the latter helps produce materials able to meet harsh-working conditions in the military field. Viettel has so far been granted 56 patents in Vietnam and 11 patents in the U.S. by USPTO. Each year, the number of patents granted to Viettel increases by 142%, nearly 8 times higher than the average increase of 18% of domestic applicants. The group is currently a pioneer and key unit in implementing the Prime Minister’s intellectual property strategy to 2030, with the goal of increasing the number of patent applications and patent protection titles by an average of 16 - 18% per year. Horrors, heroes: night tour of Hanoi prison revisits history
Tran Xuan Bach, an office worker in Hanoi, recently took a night tour of the Hoa Lo Prison built by the French in 1896. Bach learnt about the tour from a post on Facebook fan page of the Management Board of Hoa Lo Prison Relic. He and some of his colleagues registered for the tour of what used to be a scary place and called "Hell on Earth." The facility was also famously dubbed the "Hanoi Hilton" by American POWs incarcerated there. Before starting the tour, each of the visitors were given their own headphones so they could easily follow the instructions. Following their tour guide, they entered the main gate of the prison and made their way to the men's collective detention camp, the male political prison camp and the dungeon. The prison space was dark and stuffy, and it was still a frightening and emotional experience. "Just standing there, I felt suffocated. Vietnam chess ace to compete in Prague Masters
The chess festival in Prague, Czech Republic will consist of four groups of different levels. The lowest is the Open and anyone can register for it. The next three levels are Futures, Challengers and Masters. Liem is invited to the Masters group, along with nine other grandmasters, including Czech-Vietnamese player Nguyen Thai Dai Van. The average Elo rating of the 10 grandmasters is 2,693. Liem is the third seed in this tournament. Dai Van is the number three player of Czech Republic. His parents are Vietnamese. Van has a similar style of play as Liem. This is his second time in the Masters group of the tournament. Last year, he drew all seven matches in it. For Liem, this is his first time in the Czech Republic, and also his first standard chess tour since the Gibraltar Masters in January 2020. Moc Chau glass bridge recognized by Guinness as world’s longest
On Saturday, a representative from 26 Moc Chau Tourism JSC (L), the investor of Bach Long (White Dragon) glass bridge, received a certificate from Guinness World Records, the world’s authority on record-breaking achievements. With this official recognition, the Bach Long bridge has unseated a 530-meter glass bridge outside China’s Guangdong Province, which was recognized by Guinness as the world's longest in 2020. The Bach Long bridge also set a second Guinness world record as it has the world's longest glass-bottom cliff side path measured at 327 meters. Inaugurated on the Reunification Day (April 30) this year, the bridge is suspended some 150 meters above a lush green jungle valley.
