Hanoi (VNA) – The website of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, www.tansonnhatairport.vn, was allegedly hacked on late March 8 as many people reported to have failed to enter this website at about 10:45 p.m. of the day. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) said on March 9 that it was not a normal attack since “the hacker did not steal or delete any data in the system.” What left on the website read that the hacker had found out the website’s protection system was weak and then carried out an attack to warn the cyber security staff of the flaw. The website was recovered at around 10 a.m. of March 9, the CAAV said, adding that operations of Tan Son Nhat airport, based in Ho Chi Minh City, were not affected by the incident. Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City faces flooding whenever it rains.In early April, a heavy rain flooded several parking places and delayed many flights.The airport was flooded again after a rain in last August. A runway was submerged under 30cm of water and shut down for an hour. Some parking places were also flooded. The Institute of Transport Science and Technology has proposed building two monorail lines to ease traffic congestion in the area surrounding Tan Son Nhat Airport. According to the ITST, the construction costs for a kilometre is estimated at US$35 million for a single-track line and US$50 million for a double-track line. The construction time is 18 months.
