Eight people who took care of soccer legend Diego Maradona will be tried in Argentina courts for homicide, according to a ruling released on Wednesday following an investigation into his November 2020 death due to cardiac arrest. In the 236-page document seen by Reuters , the judge in charge of the case questioned "the behaviors - active or by omission - of each of the accused which led to and contributed to the realization of the harmful result." The ruling said that eight people including doctors, nurses and a psychologist who cared for Maradona at the time of his death are accused of "simple homicide," a serious charge that means taking a life with intent. Hanoi proposes state-owned businesses for relocation
Hanoi People’s Committee has proposed the relocation of 10 state-owned enterprises out of the city’s centre within the next five years. Hanoi Alcohol Beer and Beverage Company covers a 52,000-square metre site on Hoang Hoa Tham Street in Ba Dinh District Hanoi. After being relocated, the area would be used to build houses, a high school and a parking lot. At least 22 young people die in South African tavern
CAPE TOWN -- South African authorities are investigating the deaths of at least 22 young people found inside a popular tavern in the coastal town of East London, provincial health officials and the presidency said on Sunday. State broadcaster SABC reported the deaths resulted from a possible stampede, but was scant on details as the exact cause of death remained unknown. The bodies will be transported to state mortuaries where relatives are expected to help identify both male and female victims, said Siyanda Manana, a spokesperson for the Eastern Cape provincial health department. Laos considers curbing imports to save foreign currency
At a food fair in Vientiane, Laos (Photo: Xinhua/VNA) Vientiane (VNA) – The Lao Government is considering imposing limits on a number of imported goods in an attempt to minimize or cut the use of foreign currency on non-essential items amid dwindling foreign currency reserves, Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh said. Responding to National Assembly deputies’ questions at the third session of the 9th legislature, the PM said vehicles, alcoholic beverages and other imported luxury items are among goods to be considered for the import curb. Laos is suffering from a shortage of foreign currency, so the government is struggling to purchase and import sufficient essential items, notably fuel. Meanwhile, the Vientiane Times reported that the Lao Government is considering engaging an international consulting firm to determine the value of state assets, particularly those pertaining to natural resources.
