Hanoi (VNA) - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has conferred the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) with the AFC Elite Youth Scheme full membership status. The AFC has also given the three-star status to the PVF Football Academy. The AFC Elite Youth Scheme is an integral part of AFC’s Vision and Mission that is to improve playing standards and increase the possibility of success at the top level. The development of aspiring young talents is at the core of these objectives, and AFC recognises and supports the Member Associations (MAs) in their efforts to further develop their elite youth programmes, including the grading of academies, in line with the criteria set by AFC. Vietnamese goalkeeper tops clean sheet list among ASEAN leagues
Hanoi (VNA) - Tran Nguyen Manh of Viettel FC is the leading goalkeeper in terms of having the most clean sheets in domestic leagues throughout ASEAN during 2020, according to statistics compiled by ASEAN Football. Manh shares the leading position with Thai goalie Chatchai Budprom of BG Pathung United FC in the Thai League 1, with each keeping 10 clean sheets in their respective domestic leagues last year, reported Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV). The outstanding performances displayed by Manh in goal helped Viettel FC win their first V.League 1 championship title and earned them a direct spot to enter the group stage of the upcoming AFC Champions League. Ko Ko Naing of Myanmar’s Hanthawady United FC came third in the list after keeping nine clean sheets. Goalkeeper Lam to leave Thailand for Japanese league
Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Dang Van Lam looks set to be the first Vietnamese player to compete in Japan’s J1 League after reportedly signing a deal with Cerezo Osaka FC. Negotiations between Lam and Cerezo Osaka are done and a transfer deal between his current team Muangthong United of the Thai League 1 and Osaka has reportedly been agreed. Details have not been revealed yet but the Japanese powerhouse is believed to have paid Muangthong 1 million USD to sign Lam. Vietnam’s No 1 goalkeeper’s contract with Muangthong United was set to expire on May 31, 2022. Neither club has made an official announcement of the deal as yet. Before Lam, Vietnamese players Le Cong Vinh (Consodale Sapporo, 2013), Nguyen Cong Phuong (Mito Hollyhock, 2016) and Nguyen Tuan Anh (Yokohama FC, 2016) all played in Japan's second tier, the J2 League.
