Hanoi (VNA) – Honda Vietnam will continue to cooperate with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), and be the official sponsor of Vietnam’s national football teams for the 2021-24 period, the motor company announced on May 24.

In the 2019-21 period, Honda Vietnam was the main sponsor of the national football teams . During the period, Vietnamese football has obtained various achievements in the international arena, according to the VFF.

Of note, Vietnam won two gold medals in both women’s and men’s tournaments at the 30th Southeast Asian Games ( SEA Games ) held two years ago.

At present, the national men’s football team is gearing up for the remaining matches at the Group G qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Honda Vietnam General Director Mihara Daiki said that the sponsorship is a significant move of the company to support the national teams in the time to come.

VFF General Secretary Le Hoai Anh thanked the motor company for its support for Vietnamese football at large and the national teams in particular, adding that it will be a source of encouragement for the squads to fulfil their targets./.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, who is also head of the steering committee.

The standing board agreed on specific instructions to create favourable conditions for local authorities and businesses to access and purchase vaccines and quickly transport them to Vietnam.

The Health Ministry will work with authorized suppliers and Ho Chi Minh City’s administration on the city’s needs for vaccines.

Localities and businesses must be cautious when seeking vaccines to avoid the case when the manufacturer commits to selling them but deliver in 2022, not in this year.

The standing board urged the Health Ministry to early issue a document on extending the groups prioritized to receive vaccination, while preparing for launching the free-of-charge expanded vaccination drive and on-demand paid vaccination service after completing inoculation for priority groups.

Participants agreed to create the best possible conditions for the trial of homegrown vaccine. If the trial goes well, in the context of vaccine scarcity the Ministry of Health will submit to competent agencies for approval for use homegrown vaccines in emergency circumstances.

The Ministry of Health will coordinate with ministries and sectors to submit to the Government a proposal on accessing all vaccine supply sources in the world towards the goal of achieving herd immunity by the end of 2021, and create mechanisms to facilitate investors’ investment in the production of vaccines in the country to serve not only domestic use but also export.

The health ministry reported that in the coming time, along with Pfizer vaccine already bought, Vietnam is expected to receive a number of vaccines that have been approved for emergency circulation by the World Health Organisation.

SABECO signs agreement with VFF, VTVCab Sport becomes the official supporting partner of national football

Under a new agreement with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and VTVCab Sport Development JSC, the group’s (SABECO) Bia Saigon will be the exclusive sponsor from the beer industry for the Vietnamese national football team, which includes the women’s national team and men’s under-22, under-23, and Olympic team, accompanying the teams at national and international competitions towards June 2022.

“As a brand that was born and bred in this country in 1875, there is a natural affinity between Bia Saigon and the Vietnamese national football teams,” said Bennett Neo, general director of SABECO. “We are proud to support the national football teams in their journey towards greater success and share their goal of bringing glory to the country.”

Meanwhile, Le Hoai Anh, general secretary of the VFF said, “We are happy to partner with such a prominent Vietnamese brand such as Bia Saigon. This partnership will bring further support to, and motivation for, our players and help in the development of Vietnamese football as a whole.”

The CFM RISE programme by GE Aviation and Safran aims to drive revolutionary innovation for sustainable engines

The CFM RISE (Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines) programme will demonstrate and mature a range of new, disruptive technologies for future engines that could enter service by the mid-2030s.

The companies today also signed an agreement extending the CFM International 50/50 partnership to the year 2050, declaring their intent to lead the way for more sustainable aviation in line with the industry’s commitment to halve CO2 emissions by 2050.

Technologies matured as part of the RISE Programme will serve as the foundation for the next generation CFM engine that could be available by the mid-2030s. The programme goals include reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by more than 20 per cent compared to today’s most efficient engines, as well as ensuring 100 per cent compatibility with alternative energy sources such as sustainable aviation fuels and hydrogen.

Central to the programme is state-of-the-art propulsive efficiency for the engine, including developing an open fan architecture. This is a key enabler to achieving significantly improved fuel efficiency while delivering the same speed and cabin experience as current single-aisle aircraft.

The programme will also use hybrid electric capability to optimise engine efficiency while enabling electrification of many aircraft systems.

The programme is being led by a joint GE/Safran engineering team that has laid out a comprehensive technology roadmap including composite fan blades, heat resistant metal alloys, ceramic matrix composites (CMCs), hybrid electric capability, and additive manufacturing.

The RISE programme includes more than 300 separate component, module, and full engine builds. A demonstrator engine is scheduled to begin testing at GE and Safran facilities around the middle of this decade and flight test soon thereafter.

The original 1974 framework agreement creating CFM International as a 50/50 joint venture between the two aircraft engine manufacturers redefined international co-operation and helped change the course of commercial aviation.

The partnership was renewed in 2008 for the launch of the LEAP engine programme. Today, CFM is the world’s leading supplier of commercial aircraft engines with a product line that serves as the industry benchmark for efficiency, reliability, and low overall cost of ownership. More than 35,000 CFM engines have been delivered to more than 600 operators around the globe, accumulating more than one billion flight hours.

Safran is an international high-tech group, operating in the aviation, defense, and space markets. It has a global presence, with 79,000 employees and sales of €16.5 billion ($19.7 billion) in 2020. Safran undertakes research and development programmes to maintain the environmental priorities of its R&T and Innovation roadmap.

GE Aviation, an operating unit of American tech giant GE, is a world-leading provider of jet engines, components, and systems for commercial and military aircraft. GE Aviation has a global service network to support these offerings.

Siemens, which makes products ranging from trains to factory equipment, said in a statement that it booked bottom-line net profit of 2.4 billion euros ($2.9 billion) in the period from January to March, up from 697 million euros a year earlier.

Underlying or operating profit rose by 31 percent to 2.1 billion euros as revenues increased by nine percent to 14.7 billion euros and orders were up 11 percent at 15.9 billion euros.

“As our order intake and revenue in the second quarter impressively demonstrate, our customers place great trust in us,” said chief executive Roland Busch.

“Growth momentum came, in particular, from the automotive industry, machine building, our software business and -– from a geographic perspective –- from China,” Busch said.

“On this basis, we are even more confident about the second half of our fiscal year and are raising our guidance significantly,” said chief financial officer, Ralf Thomas.

Siemens said that although it continued to “a complex macroeconomic environment influenced by Covid-19, we expect our businesses to continue to deliver a strong performance in the second half of fiscal 2021.”
