Graduates from China yet to qualify for clinics (10-11-2009) HA NOI — The Ministry of Health has temporary stopped employing medical graduates from China in its clinics and hospitals as they are not yet considered doctors in both Vietnamese and Chinese regulations. Trinh Dinh Can, director of the ministry's Human Resources Department said: "We don't discriminate against candidates from abroad. However, we do not employ people who are not yet doctors." Can said that the latter could not be considered doctors in Viet Nam, because they had not undergone sufficient training. Truck overturns in SE Asia's largest underwater tunnel The upturned truck was removed from the site at 2.30 pm, allowing traffic to continue. No casualties were reported. This is the second similar incident to occur in Southeast Asia's largest underwater tunnel since it was opened in November 2011. The 1.49km tunnel is 33m wide and 9m high. It has six lanes and two emergency exit lanes on either side.- Expressway work lags behind schedule Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has called for drastic measures to accelerate the construction of the Ha Noi - Hai Phong Expressway to ensure its completion by mid-2014. Poaching of endangered primates continues in Khanh Hoa
The five primates found dead two weeks ago in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa are black-shanked douc langurs, an endangered species. The Institute of Tropical Biology under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology confirmed this Saturday after the dead animals were sent for examination by Khanh Hoa authorities. On May 11, forest wardens in Khanh Hoa's Ninh Hoa District staked out at a stretch of the National Highway 1A, acting on tip-offs from local residents. They spotted a motorbike owner carrying a big bag and gave chase. The latter fled, leaving the bike and bag behind. The wardens found five disemboweled animals weighing between six to 10.5 kilograms each. The dead animals were then sent to the Institute of Tropical Biology for further examination. The Khanh Hoa provincial police said they would launch criminal proceedings and hunt for the motorbike owner.
