Chan made his statement while delivering the keynote address at the opening dinner of the sixth International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC) in Singapore on May 14. (Photo: AFP) Washington D.C (VNA) – China and other concerned nations should refrain from actions that further militarise the East Sea and parties need to sit down for negotiation via diplomatic channels to resolve the issue, according to an US expert. China’s growing militarisation of the East Sea makes the situation more complicated and probably causes misunderstanding in an area that has already suffered from many conflicts and complexity, Lindsey Ford, Director for Political-Security Affairs at the US’s Asia Society Policy Institute told Vietnam News Agency during a recent briefing by the University of Pennsylvania’s global research centre Perry World House. VPN launches multi-purpose submarine search and rescue vessel
The launching ceremony witnessed the presence of Vietnamese Defense Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich and senior leaders of the Defense Ministry. Delegates at the ceremony to unveil the multi-purpose submarine search and rescue vessel It took the factory 17 months to build this first-ever submarine search and rescue vessel, meeting all the set requirements on quality and technical standards. It has a displacement of nearly 4,000 tons and is equipped with numerous modern features, including an on-deck helipad, search and rescue equipment, and a positioning system to make sure it can operate for thirty consecutive days amid harsh weather conditions. The new vessel can conduct international submarine rescue operations, underwater surveys, sea bed mapping, marine rescue, and others. Dioxin remediation project kicked off at Bien Hoa Airbase

(Photo: VNA) Dong Nai (VNA) – Work on the US-funded Dioxin Remediation at Bien Hoa Airbase Project in the southern province of Dong Nai began on December 5. The ceremony, held by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the Vietnam Defence-Air Force Service and the National Action Centre for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET), was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, US Deputy Chief of Mission in Vietnam Caryn R. McClelland, and representatives from competent ministries and sectors. An area of 37 hectares of the airbase’s western portion was handed over to the USAID to begin ground operations for the dioxin clean-up project.
