The Vietnamese Ministry of Health has issued 14 million ‘COVID-19 vaccine passports’ to the general public since April 15. A month after its official rollout, the passport is now available on the national COVID-19 app PC-Covid and the Digital Health app. It has 11 fields of information: name, date of birth, nationality, the targeted disease, doses of vaccines received, date of vaccination, lot number of the vaccine batch, type of vaccine, vaccine product received, the vaccine manufacturer, and a code for the certification. Information on the targeted disease, vaccine, vaccine product or manufacturer is compatible with the values provided in the World Health Organization’s 'COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker and Landscape' and the 'Value Sets for EU Digital COVID Certificates' issued by the European Union. North Korea’s Kim orders military to stabilise supply of COVID-19 drugs
Leader Kim Jong Un has ordered North Korea's military to stabilise distribution of COVID-19 medicines in the capital, Pyongyang, in the battle on the country's first confirmed outbreak of the disease, state media said. Last week brought the North's first acknowledgment of an "explosive" outbreak, with experts warning it could wreak devastation in a country with limited medical supplies and no vaccine programme. Drugs procured by the state were not reaching people in a timely and accurate way, Kim told an emergency politburo meeting on Sunday, before visiting pharmacies near the capital's Taedong River, state news agency KCNA said. Kim ordered immediate deployment of the "powerful forces" of the army's medical corps to "stabilise the supply of medicines in Pyongyang City," it added. Vietnam dominates in wushu at SEA Games
Vietnam's athletes won the highest number of gold medals in wushu, a traditional martial art, at the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games as the sport concluded on Sunday, with seven more gold medals added to the hosts’ tally. Eight Vietnamese athletes competed in the wushu final events on Sunday. Hoang Thi Phuong Giang secured a gold medal in women’s changquan with 9.71 points. Ngo Thi Phuong Nga defeated Rosalina Simanjuntak from Indonesia 2-0 in the final of the women’s 52kg category. Local aviation market sees strong recovery
The aviation market in Vietnam is vibrant and recovering with the number of international visitors increasing five-fold, according to experts. The local aviation market experienced a strong recovery in April. VNA/VNS Photo According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), in April, Vietnam's airports handled 6.6 million passengers, down 14.3 per cent compared to the same time last year but the number of foreign visitors reached more than 230,000 in April, an impressive increase of 502 per cent over the same period last year when COVID-19 was developing in a complex fashion. CAAV said Vietnamese airlines transported 3.28 million passengers, including 80,000 foreigners.
