Photo: Minh Hung Human trafficking is on the rise in Vietnam, with 3,862 victims having been trafficked for forced labor, prostitution and organ trade since 2011, officials told a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday. "Human trafficking is growing and related crimes have been reported in all 63 cities and provinces nationwide," said Colonel Le Van Chuong, deputy director of the Advisory Department under the Ministry of Public Security. According to a report by the Central Government’s Anti-crime Steering Committee, the number of Vietnamese victims of human trafficking from 2011-2015 increased by 11 percent over the previous five years. Investors are making little profit from sales of up-scale Ho Chi Minh City apartments even though prices of lower-ranked apartments have been raised to take advantage of a slight warming of that market section. But analysts say the owners of mid-range apartments may have acted too soon in raising selling prices. Property sales are expected to remain sluggish while lending interest rates remain high. Six months ago, investors could buy an under-construction apartment in the high-end US$500 million Saigon Pearl Project in Binh Thanh District by paying about $3,500 per square meter. With several of the project's eight blocks now nearly complete, Saigon Pearl apartments are being advertised for sale at $2,300-2,400 per square meter. The growing number of enterprises in Da Nang could increase demand for office space in the central city, says a report released by real estate service firm Savills Vietnam. The report says the number of new enterprises established in Da Nang has risen steadily for more than five years now. It quotes the city's statistics office as saying 2,100 new enterprises were licensed in 2009, a year-on-year increase of 23%. Overseas Vietnamese own almost 60 companies in Da Nang with US$500 million in registered capital and this has had an impact on the local office market, according to the company's Q2 report. Currently, there are 21 office buildings with a total area of over 66,000sq.m with the addition of the Lilama L7 SJC building.
