The International Food Festival is an annual cultural and charity fundraising event hosted by the Service Department for Diplomatic Corps, featuring around 120 pavilions representing embassies, foreign relations departments, non-governmental organisations and foreign cultural centres in Vietnam. The event is sponsored by Ambassador Nguyen Nguyet Nga, spouse of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh. Vietnamese American’s rape accusation: Raping? Being raped? Or lies?
A Vietnamese taxi driver accused an American woman of Vietnamese descendant of sexually harassing him on May 4 but oddly the latter had reported to local police that she was raped by another cabbie just a couple of days earlier. The accuser-turned-accused Pham Thi Thanh Ngoc, 40, is also the one who had lodged complaints to local police against a Vietnamese tabloid for what she called ostensible made-up stories last year that she raped many taxi drivers, one of whom was said to be forced to have sex with her over 30 times in two days. However, all of her accusations have been disproved by Vietnamese authorities eventually. Museum exhibition displays best entries from family photo contest in Hanoi
An ongoing exhibition in Hanoi is highlighting precious family memories captured in outstanding entries of a six-month photography competition. The exhibition, entitled 'Mai am gia dinh Viet' (Vietnamese homes), was opened at the Vietnamese Women's Museum in Hoan Kiem District on Friday and will run until Sunday. 'Vietnamese homes' showcases 70 best photos chosen from a pool of nearly 1,000 entries submitted by 238 participants to a photography competition organized by Nguoi Ha Noi (Hanoian) newspaper and Nguoi Lam Bao (Journalist) online magazine. The six-month contest, running from June, was held in observation of the Vietnamese Family Day (June 28). Of the 70 images on display, two were awarded second prizes, three won the third prizes, and 11 received consolidation prizes. There was no first-prize winner.
