The latest decision is expected to boost the traveling of visitors to Vietnam in the context that the country's Covid-19 infections have dropped to a 10-month low. Vietnam has removed the pre-entry Covid-19 testing requirements for all arrivals, starting today [May 15], according to a recent government’s instruction. It comes as the numbers of Covid-19 infections and deaths drop both in Vietnam and around the world. Vietnam has reported no Covid-19 related deaths over the past week while infections fell to a 10-month low of around 1,800 cases per day. In an official document issued this weekend, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh cited a World Health Organization (WHO)’s report that the pandemic has tended to subside worldwide, shown by the reducing number of new contractions and fatalities, and that the vaccines are still effective against variants of the novel coronavirus. Vietnam to lift pre-entry COVID-19 test requirements for entrants on May 15

Vietnam will remove the pre-entry COVID-19 test requirements for all foreign arrivals starting Sunday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed. The direction, effective at 0:00 on May 15, comes as the numbers of COVID-19 infections and deaths drop both in Vietnam and around the world. In a dispatch issued on Friday, the PM cited the World Health Organization as announcing that the COVID-19 pandemic has tended to reduce in both patient numbers and fatalities on a global scale and that basic vaccines are still effective against variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In such context, many countries have been taking steps to ease COVID-19 restrictions, including removal of pre-entry testing, the document said. Vietnam logs 1,550 new COVID-19 cases on May 16

COVID-19 vaccination (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - A total of 1,550 new COVID-19 cases were reported on May 16, a fall of 46 compared to the previous day, and two deaths. The latest numbers bring the total national caseload to 10,698,180 so far. Among the new infections, just two were imported and the rest were domestic cases. A total of 1,355 new transmissions were detected in the community. The capital city of Hanoi again recorded the highest number of infections with 437, followed by northern Bac Ninh and Yen Bai provinces with 98 and 76 cases. Fifteen provinces and cities did not report any COVID-19 cases on the day. The two deaths bring Vietnam’s COVID-19 death toll to 43,067, accounting for 0.4 percent of the total cases. A total of 4,723 patients were also given the all-clear on May 16, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,359,763. Vietnam records 1,831 new COVID-19 cases on May 18

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - There were 1,831 COVID-19 infections registered across Vietnam on May 18, an increase of 45 new cases compared to the number reported on the previous day. The new transmissions were detected in 48 cities and provinces, bringing the country's tally to 10,701,796. The capital city  of Hanoi still topped the country in terms of new daily infections, with 403 patients. It was followed by northern Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho provinces, with 139 and 125 cases. There was one COVID-19 related death reported in on the day, bringing the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 43,072, accounting for 0.4 percent of total cases. A total of 8,437 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,373,294 since the pandemic began. COVID-19: Vietnam reports 1,716 new cases on May 19

Illustrative image (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – A total 1,716 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the past 24 hours from 4pm May 18 to 4pm May 19, including one imported case, according to the Ministry of Health . Hanoi reported the highest number of infections on the day with 381 cases, followed by Nghe An with 126 and Phu Tho with 111. The northern province of Bac Giang registered an additional 1,012 cases from earlier days after verifying information. The national tally reached 10,704,524. A total 9,587 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on May 19, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 9,382,881. There are 206 patients needing breathing support, while one death was recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the total fatalities to 43,073. Hanoi reported the highest number of infections on the day with 461 cases, followed by Quang Ninh with 88, Nghe An 80 and Yen Bai 80. The national tally reached 10,696,630. A total 5,448 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on May 15, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 9,355,040. There was no death reported on the day.
