In April 2022, Duong-Van Nguyen was awarded the prestigious title of IEEE Senior by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in the U.S.. He is one of the youngest engineers to receive this honor in the history of IEEE. The IEEE Senior Member status is often awarded to an expert in the industry whose significant achievements have contributed to the world community in their field. Dr. Duong-Van Nguyen was awarded this honor because he has developed many outstanding solutions for the robotics and automotive industries during his more than 15 years in the sphere. Despite his many prestigious achievements, Dr. Duong admitted that he felt he has not done anything too extraordinary. HCM City calls for investment in many projects at the Viet Nam – Europe Business Forum held on Thursday. — VNA Photo Xuan Anh HCM City offers numerous investment and business opportunities for European businesses, a Viet Nam – Europe Business Forum heard on June 30. The event organised by the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre in HCM City heard that the city is soliciting investment in 197 projects in a number of areas such as traffic infrastructure, agriculture, housing, and healthcare. They include the US$761 million Elevated Road No 1 from Tan Son Nhat Airport to the city centre and the $255 million Northern Saigon 2 Wastewater Treatment Plant in Thu Duc City. As of last year the city had 1,044 projects set up by EU businesses out of the 2,263 they had in Viet Nam with investments totalling $6.45 billion, or 12.18 per cent of the city’s total FDI. Denmark’s LEGO recently poured a green investment worth over US$1.3 billion into Vietnam. (Source: baodautu.vn) The strategy for 2021 - 2030, signed off by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, aims at raising capital flows from countries and territories in certain regions to over 70% of total foreign investment in Vietnam during 2021 - 2025 and 75% during 2026 - 2030. The targeted partners include the Republic of Korea (RoK), Japan, Singapore, China, Taiwan (China), Malaysia, Thailand, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines in Asia; France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia and the UK in Europe, and the US. This strategy also looks to raise the number of multinationals listed in Fortune Global 500 operating in Vietnam by 50 percent.
