Nguyen Phuong Khanh, who canceled the Miss Universe Vietnam 2018 award, caused controversy when she became one of the judges to vote at the Miss World Vietnam 2019 contest. Some people think that she should not be allowed to participate because of political views and statements on sensitive issues in the past. However, there are those who agree that she has the right to participate
The 2020 Miss Vietnam Do Thi Ha was chosen to be a judge of 2023 Miss World Vietnam, but people said she was too inexperienced for the position.
The five judges of 2023 Miss World Vietnam 2023 are Pham Kim Dung (head of judges), 2019 Miss World Vietnam Luong Thuy Linh (deputy head), designer Le Thanh Hoa, 2018 Miss Vietnam Tran Tieu Vy and Ha.
User Thanh Hai commented: “I don’t think she has enough experience to be a judge of a beauty contest like Miss World Vietnam. She’s only been a beauty queen for nearly three years and I didn’t see her being active during those years.”
“There are way more beauty queens or experts who are more experienced than her. I don’t think she can contribute much to the jury,” user Minh Thuy Tran commented.
During her two years as Miss Vietnam, Ha is said to have mainly focused on studying and was not active in show business. Therefore, her position as a judge is being questioned, along with her ability and work efficiency.
“I’m the latest Vietnamese representative in Miss World,” Ha told Ngoi Sao on Thursday afternoon. “With my experience there, I think it’s completely reasonable that the organizers of Miss World Vietnam trust me and give me a seat on the judges panel. The final result will be based on the total score of all judges, not just me.”
The 21-year-old beauty queen said she appreciates this opportunity that comes with a new responsibility.
Pham Kim Dung, head of judges and organizers, said the decision to select Ha as a judge was reasonable.
“Ha is still very young, but she has faced many challenges and a lot of pressure from public opinion during Miss World and overcame it all by herself,” Dung said.
Do Thi Ha was crowned the winner of Miss Vietnam in 2020. She represented Vietnam at the 2022 Miss World in Puerto Rico and finished in the top 13.
Miss World Vietnam was first held in 2019 in order to find someone to represent the country to compete in the Miss World pageant.
